00:00Hello, my name is Amber Allitt and I'm a journalist specialising in education.
00:04Members of the National Education Union, who teach at 32 sixth form colleges across England,
00:10from Preston to Brighton, have announced new strike dates for January and February 2025.
00:17It's the latest in an ongoing dispute, which has already led to previous strike days in November and December.
00:23The union says that they are striking to protest a two-tier pay system for this academic year.
00:29Teachers in sixth form colleges that have become academies are set to get an extra 5.5% pay rise,
00:36but those who work in other state-funded colleges will only get a 3.5% increase.
00:42Dozens of schools are set to be impacted by the strikes,
00:45so here are the dates that parents at affected schools will need to know.
00:49The first day of action is set to take place on Wednesday 29 January,
00:54followed by two more on Thursday 6 February and Friday 7 February.
00:59If your child's school is among them, don't panic.
01:02The school should be in touch to let you know more.
