00:00Hi guys, my name's Jack Marshall. I'm a digital food and drink reporter for the Metro Group
00:06and welcome to one of our latest food reviews. Now, for people who have been watching a long
00:12time, they know that we love to go out and try all the new and interesting and quirky
00:16and wild and wacky things that a lot of the food outlets, the food chains have going on
00:22in the UK. Now, there's nothing wackier and wilder than the thing which I tried recently
00:27Now, they recently put out a bit of a press release, a bit of information about their
00:31newest marinade which was going to be a collaboration with Fanta Orange. Now, my first
00:37reaction was, what's it going to be like? Is it just going to be really sickly sweet? Are you
00:41going to even be able to taste it? How's that classic Nando spice going to come through when
00:45a lot of the marinade is going to be based on that really kind of classic holiday sweetness
00:50of the Fanta Orange? I was curious to see what it was like, so I thought, what better way than
00:54finding out than to actually go and try it myself. So, I went down to Nando's and not
00:57only did I get some of their chicken wings with the Nando's Fanta collaboration marinade on,
01:03but I also tried three of their other exclusive new and limited edition products as well,
01:09just to see the whole gamut. Let's see what they've got going on, the latest stuff. Let's
01:13try it all and let readers know what we thought about it. So, the four things were the Nando's
01:18and the Fanta wings, which I've just told you about, the cheesy garlic pita, which is a new
01:23starter that they've got going on, a cheesy chickle burger, which was a bit strange. I
01:28didn't know what to expect, but it basically just had loads of pickles on it, hence the chickle,
01:32chicken and pickle. And then the final thing was not a main thing. It was just one of their
01:36limited edition Perrines dips, which was a churrasco one. So, yeah, headed down to try it
01:43all out. And so, yeah, I thought I'd do a bit of a review. We'll start with the cheesy garlic pita,
01:47which cost £4.75. Now, this was really nice. It had a lovely kind of like amount of melted
01:54cheese in it. It had a nice taste of the cheese as well. It's easy with these ones for the cheese
01:58just to be like a plastic mess of melted gooey nothing, which is just there for almost texture.
02:03You don't get any flavour to it. It did have a nice amount of flavour to it. And because it is
02:06a cheesy garlic pita, it is essentially just like a pita garlic bread thing. And the garlic did cut
02:12through. They didn't scrimp on the garlic, which is nice, but it wasn't also at the other end of
02:15the scale where it's going to blow your mind and it's going to like leave you with honking breath
02:20where you're going to clear out the office for the rest of the day, which is kind of like a nice
02:23balance. So that was good. The sauce, which they served it with, was quite nice as well. It's
02:29quite tangy. It was like a tomatoey based thing. That was quite good. My only qualm with the whole
02:34thing would be that for something which is giving you very little change out of a fiver. It was
02:39pretty small. It wasn't the biggest thing in the world. But what I did have on the plate, which was
02:45pretty delicious. So yeah, I'm giving that a pretty good score all round. Onto the wings.
02:51It was okay. They were okay without it being mind-blowing. Now, going into it, I didn't know
02:56what to expect because the concept of like a Fanta orange marinade on chicken isn't something which
03:01you're normally going to come across. But I was kind of convinced by colleagues in the office
03:05who mentioned, you know, things like you can cook chicken in Coca-Cola and you can marinate it and
03:10stuff like that because like, I don't know how it works, but the sugar and the, I don't know,
03:14the fizziness just kind of gives it a bit of tenderness. So I thought maybe this will work.
03:19Like I say, I didn't go into it expecting my mind to be absolutely blown, but I also didn't know
03:24what to expect full stop. And then I took a bite and I must admit I was slightly underwhelmed at
03:28the start. It had a bit of a sweetness to it. It had a hint of orange to it. That was it. But then
03:31when I'm thinking about it, I wasn't expecting a chicken wing to taste like a Fanta orange when
03:34you're on holiday in Gran Canaria. It was never going to be that emphatic. It was just a little
03:39hint underneath of orangeness, of sweetness, which worked okay. Although I must say it needs
03:45a spice to it as well. You go to Nando's and I know some people will choose lower spice levels,
03:49but you do want a bit of kick to your chicken. So it's got a bit of power behind it. And this
03:53was lacking a little bit. The chicken was still tender and juicy. It was fine. It was just
03:58standard. It was all right. I don't think I'd rush back to have it. I'd lean more towards
04:02some of the spice level marinades, which just have a bit of kick to them. They have a bit more flavor
04:06onto the cheesy chickle burger. This was pretty good. It was classic Nando's chicken breast.
04:11It had loads of pickles on it, which I mean, I like pickles. So obviously if you're not a
04:15pickle fan, you're never going to order this. But if you do like pickles, you tend to be the
04:18kind of person who wants nice thick cut pickles. They have a proper crunch and a proper cut through
04:21with the saltiness and a bit of a bit kind of a taste profile, which is completely different to
04:27what you're going to have with like a spicy chicken. Also, the fact that they were like
04:30cold with the hot chicken, that quite that worked quite well. Also, quite a random note, but the
04:36burger bun it was served on was probably the best burger bun I've ever had in any fast food joint
04:43ever. And I don't know what about it was so good. It just had such a nice, fresh flavor to it. It
04:48was great. It was really, really like notable. When I was eating this, I was like, that's nice
04:52chicken though. Pickles are coming through. But the bread was like a proper part of it. It wasn't
04:55just like a delivery system for you to get the rest of the things into your meal. It was genuinely
05:00part of it. So I quite like that. That was good. Yeah, that cost £9.25. I just realized I not told
05:06you the Fanta wings cost £7.25, which was okay value. You got about six wings. It's just what
05:12chicken costs these days, isn't it? The cheesy chicken burger was £9.25, probably a bit over
05:15price in my opinion. Yeah, it's probably two or three quid too expensive for my tastes.
05:21Finally, we're coming on to the Churrasco Perrines. Now, randomly, this was probably
05:24the most impressive part of the entire meal. Impressive in a relative sense. I just thought
05:30it was so nice. It was like that really nice balance between spiciness from like Churrasco
05:36seasoning, which is like barbecue, you know, hinted. It's more like a Latin American barbecue
05:42style outdoor meat grill kind of flavoring rather than unique classic Texas barbecue kind of thing.
05:48But it also had like that creaminess of classic mayo. So it had a really nice cut through of
05:54really good depth of flavor, whilst also like a lovely nice creaminess to it as well. So I was
05:59slapping on everything. I was, to be honest, I was gutted I didn't have more food to put it on
06:04to enjoy more of it. So that was a real hit for me. That was excellent. I 100% have that again.
06:09If I went back to Nando's tomorrow, that is the Perrines I'm ordering without a doubt. So that
06:13was a real hit, a hint, a real hit. And the Churrasco pot itself, the Churrasco Perrines pot
06:20itself only costs a quid. So it's definitely something I'd be going back for. So yeah, thanks
06:24for watching our review. These are all the latest stuff at Nando's, which you can pick up now in,
06:28I'm sure, your local Nando's branch. Try them out for yourselves. Let us know what you think. But
06:33yeah, in the meantime, thanks for watching and have a lovely week. Cheers.
