00:00More than 20 police officers were put in a restrictive custody,
00:04including those in charge of planting and handling evidence of a major drug operation in Manila in 2022.
00:14The PNP also denied that the reward system was not allowed by them.
00:21Rion Leziguez is now in the center of the news.
00:24For the record, ma'am, if there are such illegal schemes, it is not institutionalized in the whole organization.
00:34No chief PNP, regardless of the present administration or the previous administration, will allow such illegal schemes.
00:43This is the answer of the Philippine National Police, PNP,
00:46after DILG Secretary John V. Cremulia said that there is a grand conspiracy to hide a criminal business inside an institution that is involved in illegal drugs.
01:00This is after the so-called planting of evidence and mishandling of a high-profile case,
01:07in addition to the smuggling of more than 700 kilos of shabu, worth Php 6.7 billion in Tondo, Manila, in October 2022.
01:18But the PNP still respects the outcome of the DOJ's investigation up to this point.
01:24According to the PNP spokesperson and Region 3 Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Gene Fajardo,
01:31From the 30 cases, two are compulsorily retired, one has resigned, and three are optionally retired, while two have been dismissed from the service, while 22 are still active in the service.
01:48PNP Chief, Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil also ordered that these people be placed under restrictive custody.
01:58We have dismissed many police officers, regardless of their rank.
02:01So if there are allegations that there are the same or at least similar incidents that happened, like the issue of Php 990 kilos, then we are open to an investigation.
02:14The PNP may also reject the D-M-O-N-Y reward system under the Anti-Illegal Drug Campaign.
02:22As to the reward system, we have already answered that those are not the norms of the PNP to give rewards to kill anyone.
02:35We have incidents where during legitimate police operations, there were people who died.
02:39Let's not forget that there are also police officers who lost their lives.
02:45Meanwhile, the National Rally for Peace was held peacefully in Kirinu Grandstand and other places in the country yesterday by the Iglesia Ni Cristo.
02:55Fajardo said that it is generally peaceful if they consider it to be a rally in spite of some challenges that he experienced during the heavy rain in Kirinu Grandstand.
03:07The reason is that some of the participants in the rally needed medical attention due to more than one and a half million activities.
03:17More than 1,000 were brought to the Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office or MDRRMO Health Stations and INC Field Hospital.
03:29The INC first clarified that their peace rally is not anti-government but as a support to the government and urge everyone to unite for the betterment of the country.
03:41The rally started at 8.30 in the morning and ended at 5.25 in the afternoon where members immediately cleaned up the garbage in the place of the rally.
03:54Ryan Lisigues for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
