00:00Hey there, it's Chloe from afar.
00:06Spain's beautiful beaches, historical villages, and delicious food make it a must-visit country
00:10for a lot of people.
00:11And some of its best sights are actually off the beaten path.
00:14Here are some of the best places to visit in Spain.
00:22Santiago de Compostela is best known as the last stop on the 500-mile Camino de Santiago.
00:27And even if you're not walking the pilgrimage route, the capital of Galicia is a worthwhile
00:31place for exploring religious history and some of the dishes northwestern Spain has
00:34to offer.
00:35From regional cheeses to seaside delicacies like percebes, also known as goose barnacles.
00:40La Rioja may be one of Spain's smallest autonomous communities, but there's plenty to do here,
00:45especially if you love wine.
00:46There are more than 500 wineries here, with the tempera and neogrape variety being by
00:50far the most popular.
00:52Check out some of the local reds in towns like Oro and Briones.
00:55The 60-square-mile Hortesa y Monte Perdido National Park is one of the best places to
00:59explore Spain's portion of the Pyrenees Mountains.
01:02It's part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to deep canyons, limestone peaks,
01:06and wildlife like brown bears, marmots, and golden eagles.
01:09Some of the best hiking paths are found here, including up the 11,000-foot Monte Perdido.
01:15Caicho!
01:16That's how you say hello in Basque Country, one of Spain's autonomous communities in
01:20northern Spain.
01:22San Sebastian is one of the cities found in Basque Country, and the food seen here is
01:25top-notch.
01:26We're talking 10 Michelin-star restaurants spread throughout a city of only around 200,000
01:31people.
01:32If you have a fear of heights, don't look down on a visit to Ronda.
01:35A nearly 400-foot gorge runs through the middle of this town, making for gorgeous and dramatic
01:40views.
01:41It's also considered the birthplace of modern bullfighting.
01:43You can check out the history of this centuries-old sport at the Museum in the Bullring of the
01:47Royal Cavalry of Ronda.
01:50Mazartem is Moreia, a town on a hilltop in eastern Spain.
01:53This ancient fortress looks like a kingdom pulled from a fantasy book, with a towering
01:56castle and medieval walls surrounding it.
01:58Stop by for local specialties like its flaons, or pastries stuffed with cheese and ground
02:02almonds, as well as mistela, a fortified wine.
