00:00Hey, I'm Chloe, a Fars Associate Destinations Editor.
00:06There are so many reasons to love the Nordic region, from its jaw-dropping icy landscapes
00:10to, of course, the well-loved Northern Lights.
00:12Here's some of the most exciting places in the region to travel to next, which include
00:16a design-focused city and a place where sheep actually outnumber people.
00:20Let's get into it.
00:25Copenhagen's colorful houses and historic canals never get old, but there are plenty
00:30of new things to see, too, like the reopened Design Museum of Denmark.
00:34It now features a permanent exhibition focused on Danish design from the 1920s to the 1970s,
00:40which is all about functionality and minimalism.
00:43Be sure to also check out cool neighborhoods like Refselund, which was an industrial area,
00:47but is now a hub for cool eateries like the Ruffin Street Food Market.
00:51Norway's mountains, fjords, and waterfalls are just a few reasons why this is the country
00:55for outdoor adventure.
00:56So take a van and go cross-country from Oslo to beautiful places like the city of Bergen
01:01or Gudvangen Village.
01:02Thanks to the upcoming Solar Maximum, the Northern Lights will be especially spectacular
01:06over the next year or so.
01:08Swedish Lapland, in the Arctic part of Sweden, is one of the best places to see a show.
01:13Memorable stays here include cabins on stilts and even a hotel built out of snow and ice.
01:18If you visit in early February, don't miss the chance to learn about indigenous Sami
01:21culture at the annual Jakmuk Winter Market.
01:25Favaro Islands launched its Close for Maintenance Open for Voluntourism program in 2019, where
01:30volunteers can participate in infrastructure projects in exchange for free room and fort,
01:34and the chance to see some gorgeous parts of the archipelago.
01:37Even if you don't get into the program, the dramatic fjords and cliffs definitely
01:41make it worth the trip.
01:44In 2020, Iceland launched its Remote Work Visa, allowing non-EU residents to stay in
01:48the country for up to 180 days.
01:50Its capital, Reykjavik, is an ideal setup for digital nomads working U.S. hours.
01:55Take in a puff-in or whale-watching trip during the day, and you can still be back to your
01:59hotel or coffee shop in time for that important Zoom call.
02:02The 2024 World Happiness Report named Finland the happiest country in the world for the
02:06seventh year in a row.
02:07There are lots of ways to explore why people are just so happy there, from the access to
02:12nature to relaxing saunas, or maybe take a plunge in icy waters and embrace Sisu, the
02:17Finnish concept of grit to get through tough times.
02:20Well, thanks for watching!
