00:07can be applied in Taiwan.

00:09Bon Aquino has the story.

00:15Julian Buizon, a 22-year-old factory worker in making stuffed toys,

00:20once went to a job fair in Makati to apply for a job in Taiwan

00:24as a factory worker in electronics and semiconductor companies.

00:29I was able to get a job and I didn't have to pay anything.

00:32Almost everything was free.

00:34According to the Labor Representative and Director of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office

00:38or MECO in Taipei, Taiwan,

00:40only 3,000 job offers can be applied by Filipinos,

00:44particularly in the sector of semiconductor and artificial intelligence in Taiwan.

00:49More than 60% of the chips and components for semiconductor and now AI

00:55are produced in Taiwan.

00:57Because of this, they need workers for the expansion

01:04and new players in this category.

01:09Qualifications, high school or college graduate,

01:1332 years old and below, even without experience, can apply for a job.

01:18But now, the preference of the employer is even at the college level,

01:23no experience required.

01:25Because when you get there, you won't be left alone.

01:29Someone will mentor you for 2-3 months until you learn.

01:34Applications can also be submitted to the recruitment agencies

01:37accredited by the DMW, Ministry of Labor of Taiwan, and MECO.

01:42MECO said that the job is good considering the quality of the chips.

01:47There is no assembly.

01:49You just have to look at the production line.

01:52It will be alarmed if there is an issue on quality control.

02:15The basic monthly salary is 28,590 Taiwanese dollars

02:20or equivalent to 52,000 Pesos.

02:23But if there is an overtime, the monthly salary can reach 80,000 Pesos.

02:29In 2024, the Department of Migrant Workers, or DMW, will hold job fairs

02:35to fulfill the job orders from Taiwan to avoid illegal recruitment and trafficking.

02:40But because the election period starts tomorrow,

02:43they will ask for permission from the COMELEC or Commission on Elections

02:47to continue this.

02:49Maybe some people will say we're favoring some LGUs and other politicians

02:55and would be tantamount to electioneering.

02:59That's why, to be sure that we are not violating any election laws,

03:04we have to get an exemption.

03:05And once it is given, that's the time we can sustain and continue these job fairs

03:12all over the country.
