00:00In restaurants, garlic is a must and its peel is thrown away.
00:09But UP Cebu Fine Arts student, Clint, has a bright idea to give the garlic peel a new appeal.
00:16So my thesis, I was tasked to explore on materials that can potentially be developed into products.
00:25There are a lot of garlic peels at the Carbon Market of Cebu City.
00:29Garlic peel is rich in fiber.
00:32So I was thinking, maybe I can turn this into sheets.
00:35After a long process, the peel of garlic became like a thin paper.
00:40Which he later used to make table lamps, tables, and tiles.
00:46But because the peel of garlic is also like an onion,
00:49when it's crushed, he discarded it to make it stronger.
00:54If it becomes brittle, I had to mix it with 20-25% of avocado in order to stabilize the sheets.
01:02He posted his thesis achievement online.
01:05Many netizens were happy with his project.
01:08He already has more than 3 million views on TikTok.
01:11Does he plan to scale up his garlic peel materials when he graduates?
01:16But for Clint, this is not just a thesis project.
01:19According to the 2024 Food Waste Index Report of the UN Environment Programme,
01:24the household food waste of the Philippines is around 2.95 million tons per year.
01:29That's why his project is time-consuming.
01:32Not only does he not reduce the garbage that is being destroyed in the environment,
01:36making home decorations with garlic peels can also provide livelihood and income.
01:42I'm really interested in exploring other materials like agricultural waste.
01:49It's significant because aside from reducing the waste,
01:53it can provide opportunities to be monetized or like provide jobs.
02:12Father Esperidion works hard every day to provide for his children.
02:17At night, he makes basahan for his grandchildren.
02:21I only make basahan for them, for my grandchildren.
02:24That's all I can do.
02:26Father Leonardo, even though he's 80 years old,
02:30continues to provide services for his children without asking for anything in return.
02:34If there's anything, thank you. If not, it's okay.
02:37Father Abel is a security guard in Caloocan.
02:40The love language is quality time.
02:43He's worth the vacation with his only child, Shalani, before he goes home to Cagayan.
02:48Sometimes, when he goes home, I really cry.
02:56But there's nothing I can do. Life is hard.
03:01The netizens also said that their fathers' love language is the same.
03:06They're picky when it comes to cooking, bonding when it comes to drinking,
03:09and even when it comes to calling their children simply.
03:14Our fathers are usually not noticed for their hard work because they don't work hard.
03:21But no matter how strong the environment of the house is,
03:25they say that their anger is removed when their children show sweetness.
03:31So, to the fathers, Daddy, Papa, or Erpat, Happy Father's Day!
03:39This is Bonifacio Luna III, his father, junior of his grandfather, Bonifacio.
03:46And his son, Fordy, is already the fourth generation of their name.
03:51Their name is famous among our people.
03:55But it's not just their looks and names that are the same.
03:59They're also passionate about music.
04:06We both love music.
04:09Especially my father, he knows all the genres of music.
04:13Jonnetto Humores Sr. is still chasing his dream of having a junior.
04:18I already have three daughters.
04:20I'm the fourth one. I already have a son.
04:23Even though Cesar and Lemuel don't have the same name,
04:26they chose the same career as an engineer.
04:29I'm proud that I influenced him in that direction.
04:35They also have the same interest in riding motorcycles.
04:37We're mimicking our parents.
04:40I'm thankful for my influence as an engineer because I'm happy with what I'm working right now.
04:45This is what I want.
04:47Daddy, Papa, Tatay, whatever our fathers call us,
04:50they deserve to be respected for their hard work and sacrifice for their families.
