00:00As a preparation for the Super Typhoon Pepito, some barangay residents are tying their roof to San Agustin, Candaba, Pampanga.
00:13Our roof is already getting higher when it's windy.
00:16So we made it safe so that if there's a strong wind, it won't hit it.
00:23One resident even put hollow blocks on top of their roof.
00:28Most of the houses in the barangay are two-storied because they're used to flooding.
00:35They also have their own boat that's in the corner of their house.
00:39They were supposed to fix the roof so that the rice would be full, but it was ruined.
00:44They haven't fixed it yet because of the Typhoon Pepito.
00:47According to the barangay secretary, who is also a farmer, the experience of the residents of Candaba is different.
00:53In the past, only one or two typhoons affected them every November when it's time to plant rice.
01:00But because it's going to be the fourth typhoon, they'll only be able to plant rice once.
01:06We'll be the last ones to plant rice.
01:09We used to have two croppings here.
01:12November and December is supposed to be the first crop.
01:17So when March comes, it's the second crop.
01:21If it rains now, we might be the first cropping.
01:26CatchBasin is the Candaba of water from Bulacan, Pampanga River, and Nueva Ecija.
01:32I told all the low-rises that they can evacuate to the barangay.
01:39The mayor of the evacuation center is big.
01:45We can bring them there at any time.
01:47The Candaba Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office is also alert and continues to monitor flood-prone areas.
01:55Their life vests, life jackets, and other rescue equipment are already prepared.
02:00It will take until 6 p.m. for the rain to stop.
