00:00This is the breaking news of the 24-hour weekend.
00:07A coastal barangay in Ilocos Norte is preparing for the danger of a tsunami
00:11followed by a cluster of earthquakes in the sea and coast.
00:15And if there is a tsunami, FIVOC will be aware of the plans to evacuate to any high-rise buildings.
00:21Breaking news, Niko Wahe.
00:24FIVOC calls for a swarm in the following earthquakes in each area,
00:29like what happened in the St. Catalina-Ilocos Sur beach this December 17-20.
00:35The earthquakes are close to the Manila Trench, from Northern Luzon to Batangas.
00:41Up to 193 quakes are expected until this afternoon.
00:46The strength ranges from magnitude 1.8 to magnitude 5.
00:50There are also signs of earthquakes after the Seventy Earthquakes of December 19-20.
00:56We are not yet leaving the possibility that there could be a big one.
01:01When the Manila Trench moves, the worst-case scenario
01:04is a surge from magnitude 7 to magnitude 8.4 and a possible tsunami.
01:10In Barangay Gabot, Badoc, Ilocos Norte, which is one of the coastal barangays,
01:14a warning device is ready to sound if there is a tsunami.
01:18If the strongest tsunami hits St. Catalina,
01:21it is possible that the tsunami could reach up to 14 meters high,
01:24which can be experienced in Bandang Vigan.
01:26More than three floors of houses were raised.
01:29FIVOC said that even if there is a tsunami, it is not safe to leave the houses.
01:34As of now, we are not advising the hotels.
01:37So mostly the hills, really high places.
01:41According to the Office of Civil Defense,
01:43it is necessary to strengthen the preparation and seriousness of the incidents.
01:46Contingency plans are needed for every LGU or barangay.
01:51We need to have in-between drills for our regional offices
01:56and identify which communities are dangerous.
02:02If there is a tsunami in Metro Manila,
02:04it is necessary to be six kilometers away from the evacuation point.
02:08In the question of whether the West Valley Fault will move,
02:10if the Manila Trench will move...
02:12It is not connected because it is an earthquake generator.
02:15For GMA Integrated News, Nico Juage, for Tutok 24 Hours.
