00:07I'm Commander Said Muhammad Syafiq bin Sayyid Hussein, TLDM.
00:10I'm the Director-General of KD Rajawali,
00:13the Royal Malaysian Navy's West Air Station.
00:15This innovative product was inspired by a real incident
00:18which happened in 2011
00:20during the anti-bunga laurel robbery
00:23at the Somalia's Aden Bay by the Somali pirates.
00:26So, during the incident,
00:28the aircrew flying the FENEP helicopter
00:30realized that there was a problem
00:32where we couldn't differentiate
00:34between our friends and enemies at that time.
00:40Compact Tactical Light is an innovation
00:43that aims at an effective lighting system
00:46that can emit two modes,
00:48which are Tactical Mode and Normal Mode.
00:51The Tactical Mode is used for sea-specific troops
00:54and the TLDM Air Base
00:56that is trying to climb the Gorger Mission
00:59to ensure that during operations in dark areas,
01:04we can identify whether it's a team of friends or enemies.
01:09The Normal Mode can be used to mark dangerous obstacles,
01:14especially when air transport is carried out
01:17to areas that are affected by natural disasters.
01:20Compact Tactical Light has a structure
01:22that is produced by 3D printing.
01:26This 3D printing system
01:27gives the TLDM Air Base Innovation Team
01:32an opportunity to improve
01:35and optimize structural strength.
01:38In addition, the chosen lighting spectrum
01:41is in accordance with the existing system
01:44in the TLDM assets.
01:47We call this concept the Family of a System
01:50so that there are no drastic modifications
01:54to adapt the function of Compact Tactical Light
01:58to the existing equipment.
01:59We produce this product by using expertise in our team
02:05where the composition of this group
02:07consists of various ranks, levels and expertise.
02:11Among the challenges faced
02:13are limitations in terms of funding and facilities.
02:18However, the team has managed to overcome
02:21and optimize all the resources
02:24such as equipment and R&D facilities
02:29to achieve the success of producing this Compact Tactical Light product.
02:33This innovative product has provided good benefits
02:36to the rescue teams,
02:39especially the Sea Rescue Team and the TLDM Air Base.
02:41We have been able to identify the teams of friends and enemies
02:45and it has been tested and implemented on the actual site.
02:51According to the scale, we are at TRL or
02:54Technology Readiness Level 8 at the moment
02:57and the compromise and risk to the rescue teams
03:01has been reduced.
