00:00Hi everyone it's Steph at the Doncaster Free Press and it's Thursday January the 9th.
00:04Just bring you some of our headlines today. First of all just a warning to people,
00:08we have got a forecast out this morning. It's going to get colder by the looks of it,
00:12there are some talks of it reaching some very low minus temperatures.
00:16It is very very cold this morning, the cars have been defrosted as I speak,
00:21so please be careful out there. Obviously watch for black ice if you're driving around,
00:27but hopefully most of the major roads will have been gritted.
00:30Now weather aside, we've got some great stories for you this morning
00:35that are doing really well on our website. First of all the one I put up yesterday,
00:39an 18 month child who I've named as a genius who lives in Doncaster is surpassing all their
00:47milestones. At 18 months old they're already able to recite the alphabet, they can count,
00:52they can speak in two languages, they can recognise shapes and colours.
00:56It's quite extraordinary really, so you can read all about that and basically the parents have
01:02spoken to us to let parents know that anything's achievable. It is quite an interesting story so
01:09take a look at that today. Right then we have another nice one that I put out yesterday,
01:14Doncaster Business has been named as South Yorkshire's Salon of the Year.
01:18There's a nice little piece there about the hairdressers in Carcroft, you're probably
01:26familiar with it, and so there's some information from the boss there about that achievement and
01:32what it means and some information about their staff. And then finally another one which is
01:38business related, a 60 year old bakery which has two retail outlets in Doncaster has secured a
01:54£250,000 loan from finance for enterprise. It means that three jobs have been secured
02:02at Roads of Thorn which has a deli and sandwich shops and they're both situated in high street
02:10locations. It's been established for 60 years but it's just been taken over so you can read
02:14all about this morning as well. Obviously we're going to keep you updated as the day goes on,
02:19particularly on the weather. There's been quite a lot of incidents on the roads in the last couple
02:24of days so visit www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk and of course keep an eye out on X and Facebook
02:32and keep safe and keep warm.
