00:00The Office of Civil Defense or OCD informed the public that there was a strong downpour due to the shear line
00:07and that some casualties were reported in some affected areas of the country.
00:12This is what Noel Talacay reported.
00:15Five were affected due to the heavy downpour caused by the Intertropical Convergence Zone and the shear line
00:27or the accumulation of wind and easterlies or wind from the Pacific Ocean causing the downpour
00:36in the Mimaropa, Eastern Visayas and Davao region.
00:40According to the Office of Civil Defense of January and March this year,
00:4720 individuals were affected and two were missing.
00:53More than 1,000 houses were damaged in the Eastern Visayas and Davao region
01:00where more than 300 were totally damaged and more than 600 were partially damaged.
01:08More than 436,000 families were affected in Cagan Valley, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Eastern Visayas and Davao region.
01:19According to the monitoring of the OCD, more than 2,000 families currently live in 20 evacuation centers
01:30while more than 1,000 were chosen not to stay in the evacuation centers.
01:36According to the OCD, in Davao region alone, more than P215,000 houses were totally damaged.
01:46According to OCD Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno,
01:49it is important to monitor floods and its adverse effects on people and houses
01:56so that it can be acted on and prevent the increase in human casualties.
02:01He also added that the public should not underestimate this type of weather
02:09because it can cause floods, damage to property, landslides and floods.
02:16The OCD does not allow the local governments to always be prepared in case of bad weather.
