00:00Hello there, good morning. For the first weekend of 2025 it is going to be an
00:05unsettled one, some strong winds, some rain and also some snow and ice with
00:09multiple Met Office warnings in force for the weekend including two amber
00:13warnings initially for parts of Wales where we have a snow and ice warnings
00:16this is for Saturday 6 p.m. through until Sunday at midday and then a
00:20secondary warning just to the north of England once again through Saturday
00:22evening all the way through until Sunday at midnight but elsewhere there was also
00:27plenty of warnings issued generally yellow for snow and ice to start on
00:32Saturday though there's actually going to be plenty of bright sunshine around
00:35after a cold start we could also see some frost and some ice to start on
00:38Saturday a few showers just feeding into the northwest particularly northern
00:42parts of Scotland where they could fall as sleet and snow mainly across hills
00:46but also to lower levels too then we do start to see a change as we head into
00:50Saturday evening heavy outbreaks of rain starting to push into the southwest also
00:54southern parts of Wales and strong winds underneath these cloudier skies
00:58too we may also start to see some sleet and snow just feed into higher ground
01:02across the southwest and southern parts of Wales a very cold day despite there
01:07being plenty of sunshine just to the north of this system temperatures widely
01:10three to four Celsius Celsius but just a degree or two higher across the
01:15southwest as that system starts to push through into the evening we'll continue
01:20to see these outbreaks of rain sleet and snow push their way northwards across
01:24the country this is when the amber warnings come into force across parts of
01:27England and Wales likely to see outbreaks of snow not just over hills
01:30but to lower levels too and also a chance we could see some freezing rain
01:34across southern parts of Wales potentially some southern parts of
01:37England too so likely to see widespread icy conditions across these areas too
01:41plenty of clear skies just to the north of this still those showers feeding and
01:46across northern parts of Scotland so likely to see once again a widespread
01:50frost here perhaps once again also some icy stretches and widely temperatures
01:54in towns and cities below zero now through into Sunday once again very
02:00unsettled still plenty of warnings in force as the system gradually moves its
02:04way into northern areas still those outbreaks of snow across the north and
02:07then just starting to feed into southern parts of Scotland may even see some snow
02:11across Northern Ireland too mainly falling as rain by this point across
02:15the south but it is still going to be feeling cold for much of the country
02:19highs only reaching around 2 to 3 degrees in some places now this system
02:23does drag in a brief spell of milder air so across the south temperatures more
02:26between 10 to 12 Celsius but overall it is going to be an unsettled day heavy
02:30outbreaks of rain and as I say those outbreaks of snow across northern areas
02:34likely to cause some travel disruption over the weekend and there's a good
02:38chance we could see some updates to these warnings too over the weekend so
02:42do stay up to date on our app and also across our website
