00:43In separate New Year's messages, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara
00:47Duterte urged Filipinos to embrace growth and resilience in 2025.
00:52In his greetings, Marcos expresses hope Filipinos would adopt a mindset focused on growth and
00:57learning from past lessons.
00:59He also talks about the resilience of communities amid calamities.
01:03Marcos says, quote, reflecting on the resilience we have shown in overcoming them, it is crucial
01:08for our progress to esteem such moments as hallmarks of the extraordinary strength we
01:13gain through solidarity and perseverance.
01:16Meanwhile, in Sara Duterte's video greeting, she also highlights resilience and hope, stressing

01:28Ngayong 2025, sama-sama nating harapin ang ibat-ibang hamon na magpapatibay sa atin bilang
01:36isang bansang patuloy na nananalig sa Diyos at nagtutulungan para sa ika-uunlad at ikabubuti
01:44ng ating pamilya.
01:46The start of 2025 marks the midpoint of the Marcos administration, with the upcoming May
01:51elections expected to showcase the political strength and public support of each camp.
01:56A United Nations or UN Human Rights Office report on Tuesday, December 31, condemns Israeli
02:03attacks on hospitals in Gaza.
02:05The UN report highlights the severe damage to the region's healthcare system and raises
02:10concerns about Israel's adherence to international law.
02:13The 23-page report covered attacks from October 12, 2023 to June 30, 2024, and concluded that
02:20these attacks had destroyed Gaza's healthcare infrastructure, killing patients, medical
02:24staff and civilians.
02:26The report says targeting hospitals could be considered war crimes under international
02:31law.
02:32It also warns that a widespread pattern of human rights abuses against civilians could
02:36amount to crimes against humanity.
02:38Israel has consistently denied such claims.
02:41UN High Commissioner Volker Torgh criticizes the attacks on healthcare facilities as a
02:46blatant disregard for humanitarian law, calling hospitals death traps for Palestinians.
02:54Investigation on the deadly Jeju air crash now focuses on design features at the Muan
02:58International Airport, where the incident took place last Saturday, December 28.
03:03Fire and transport officials questioned the large dirt and concrete embankment near the
03:08end of the runway used to support navigation equipment.
03:11The plane slammed into the embankment at high speed and erupted into a fireball.
03:16Bodies and body parts were thrown into surrounding fields, and most of the aircraft disintegrated
03:21in flames.
03:23Captain Ross Rusty Amer, chief executive of Aero Consulting Experts, says,
03:28"...unfortunately, that thing was the reason that everybody got killed, because they literally
03:32hit a concrete structure.
03:34It shouldn't have been there."
03:37Transport ministry officials say most South Korean airports were built based on international
03:41civil aviation organization rules that recommend a 240-meter runway and safety area.
03:47But a domestic law allows adjusting the location of some installations in a range that does
03:52not significantly affect the performance of the facility.
03:55The investigation has uncovered that remarks on the airport's operations manual says
04:00the navigation equipment, called localizers, was installed too near the end of the runway.
04:07Actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt reach a divorce settlement after eight years.
04:12They were together from 2005 and were married for two years until Jolie filed for divorce
04:18in 2016.
04:19She cited irreconcilable differences in the divorce filing.
04:23She subsequently saw full physical custody of their six children, then aged 8 to 15,
04:28with visitation rights for Pitt.
04:31Allegations of child abuse were made against Pitt and reviewed by the FBI, but no charges
04:35were brought.
04:36Jolie's lawyer says a divorce settlement has been finalized, signed and filed with
04:40the court.
04:41No details of the settlement are immediately revealed.
04:44The lawyer adds Angelina is exhausted, but is relieved this one part is over.
