00:00Ryan's contract situation is part of that conversation that there are people that
00:03have reservations about A, either marrying up with a general manager who's on unsteady ground,
00:08or B, marrying up with a general manager who would be in line to get a contract extension
00:13from a team president without necessarily having justifiable reason to give him a contract
00:19extension. So how do you sort through that if you're the bears trying to figure out the best
00:24path to hiring the best coach when you have this very complicating factor with the general manager?
00:28Yeah, I think if they find the right coach and the right coach believes that this is the
00:36situation for them, I don't think it's going to be complicated. Like if they feel like they're
00:44all on board, like if it aligns, right? And I'm talking about a two-way street here, right?
00:52I'm talking about from the top down to the bottom up, right? If they feel like,
01:00hey, I can work with this guy. If they run into a situation like that, if that's what they can
01:07find, I don't think it's a complicating factor. Like you work it out then.
01:17But what if it is? What if you have a candidate that you really,
01:20really like and they say, I don't know about this.
01:21Yeah, then you got to make a move. Then you got to make a move. I mean, this isn't like,
01:27I don't think it's rocket science. Kevin clearly has the juice. He wants the juice. He wants
01:37to be out in front on stuff routinely at House Hall. He wants to be a face of the franchise,
01:45and that's fine. So if the coach that he ultimately sees is the guy that they've got to have,
01:56if he wants to pull the trigger on the GM, I'm sure George McCaskey would allow him to do that.
02:04But I think their hope is that they find something where everybody's sort of aligned, and then it
02:12works itself out pretty easily, I would believe.
