00:00It shouldn't be overlooked that I think Ben Johnson is going to be a huge asset
00:03to Ryan Poles in the way that Matt Iberflues and Luke Goetze, and I couldn't even remember
00:09the guy's name because he was here so briefly, Shane Waldron, that they never were.
00:15Poles needs to listen, and Poles seems like he's been humbled a little bit by the way things have
00:20gone, as he should be. I think his record is 15-36 in the three years that he's been running the
00:25team, and I think he's going to adapt and kind of merge philosophies with Ben Johnson. Ben
00:32Johnson is not going to come in and have total power like he might have had if he'd gone to
00:36the Raiders, depending on how that played out, but Ryan Poles now needs to sit here and say,
00:40well, here's what I think, but here's what my coach is telling me that he needs, and maybe we
00:45need to go get the offensive lineman that Ben Johnson wants and not the offensive lineman that
00:50I want, for example. That's exactly where I'm at with it, and reading some of the quotes from
00:56Ryan Poles and seeing some of the stories about him, I hope that he has the capacity and the
01:03ability to look at himself critically and say, there needs to be a change, and I agree with you
01:09that I don't believe for a second that Matt Iberflues or Shane Waldron were indispensable
01:16figures of the Bears when it came to drafting, and my hope is that Ben Johnson will be, because
01:23of the three people that we mentioned, Poles, Iberflues, and Shane Waldron, Ben Johnson has
01:30been more successful at his job than those guys have been at theirs, so I'm hopeful that he does
01:37have a big say and that they are willing to be like, you know what, this is different maybe from
01:43what we were going to do, but this is exactly why we brought you in here, so that you can help us
01:49get what you need to try and win. What you're describing, Lawrence, I think is what's happening
01:54there. That's what I'm understanding from what Ryan Poles is saying, and man, let's be honest,
02:01on a human level, it is not easy to be humbled.
