00:14Under the leadership of the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board of Metro Manila and Northern Mindanao,

00:20households in their regions will receive an increased salary.

00:25In Metro Manila, the minimum wage of households is already P7,000 per month

00:30from the current P6,500.

00:33This is effective on January 4.

00:36In Northern Mindanao, from the previous P5,000,

00:39the minimum wage of households will be P6,000 from January 12.

00:44In the statement of the Department of Labor yesterday,

00:47it encouraged the other regional wage boards to feel the impact of the economy on the workers

00:54so that the wages will not be left behind.

00:57There's a story about Arlene Royales who has been working in Quezon City for six years

01:03and has two children who are studying in Zamboanga.

01:06Even if the minimum wage of households is P7,000, they will still be left behind.

02:10It's still not enough because of the house's roof and electricity bill.

02:15Maybe P10,000 is enough.

02:20It's even harder for someone like Malu who is a housekeeper on call

02:24because she only earns P5,000 from the so-called cleaners.

02:29That's why she hasn't paid for the SSS and PhilHealth for a long time.

02:33It's still not enough, but it's still not enough.

02:37If it's not enough, I'll just buy more.

02:43Many of the housekeepers in Metro Manila just run away from the more difficult life in the province.

02:50I help my father and my parents.

02:54I'm the breadwinner. I plant rice.

02:58I'm not good enough to be a breadwinner.

03:03My dream is that when I have money, I will open a small calenderia in Zamboanga.

03:15The DOLE always encourages the housekeepers to follow the law in the SSS and PhilHealth.

03:22The SSS membership will provide the housekeepers with social pension, sickness, maternity and death and funeral benefits

03:31while PhilHealth will provide hospitalization, outpatient, surgical and maternity benefits.
