00:00At the moment, volcano Canlaon is at alert level 3, but it can still be raised to the 4th alert because of the continuous eruption of the volcano.
00:10This means that several families are affected and are staying in evacuation centers.
00:16PTV's Rod Laguzad has news for the country.
00:21FEEBOX is still not removing the possibility of raising the Canlaon volcano to alert level 4.
00:27Volcanoes have also been active in the past few days, including this Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
00:33If alert level 4, we're looking at low-level magma eruption underway, then hazardous eruption imminent,
00:44which then progress to highly hazardous eruption within hours or days.
00:49In this situation, the danger zone can be expanded to 10 kilometers or more.
00:55At the moment, Canlaon is at alert level 3, where it is possible for a hazardous eruption to occur in the coming weeks.
01:01According to FEEBOX, in the past 24 hours, two ash emissions were recorded,
01:06which reached 400 meters above sea level, which was also recorded by 20 volcanic earthquakes.
01:11While more than 6,000 tons per day was recorded in sulfur dioxide yesterday, it is higher than December 24.
01:18As explained by Kulkul, they are looking at three scenarios.
01:21The magma rise is slow and will only reach the mouth of the volcano, which may take longer, but the ash is less.
01:28Second, the rapid rise of magma.
01:30Here, it is possible for an explosive eruption to occur, where there may be a pyroclastic density current that is more dangerous.
01:37Third, its activity stopped and the alert level may be lowered.
01:41Normally, our observation here is that it should be consistent and low, at least one month, that's what we're looking at.
01:50So again, if our parameters are fluctuating, we cannot lower it.
01:58We have to assess this on a daily basis and check all the parameters because our earthquakes are increasing and the sulfur dioxide is decreasing.
02:11According to the Office of the Civil Defense, as of December 26, almost 12,000 families were affected by the eruption of the volcano.
02:18From here, more than 4,000 families are currently staying in evacuation centers.
02:24The government's bloodshed continues among the affected.
02:27While the DSWD was the first to preposition a fund as part of the P31.96 million Quick Response Fund from the DSWD Central Office.
02:36From PTB Manila, Rod Laguzed, for Balitang Pambansa.
