00:00But with Jameer Gibbs as the lead running back, I'm curious to get your thoughts on him.
00:05Bigger workload for him on Sunday, 23 carries, he had four receptions as well, he had 20 touches at halftime.
00:14It's not a workload that we're accustomed to him seeing, but I thought all in all he looked pretty good in that first game as the RB1, so to speak.
00:22So I'm curious what you think of Jameer Gibbs' performance.
00:25Yeah, not surprising in any sense, right Christian?
00:28I just think that when you saw the reason why last year you saw glimpses of why this football team invested a first round pick in Jameer Gibbs,
00:37you see what he brings to the table, the speed, the explosiveness, you see basically the Alvin Kamara type in this football player.
00:45And I think having a nice compliment with David Montgomery throughout the first couple years definitely can help early on,
00:53obviously as he learns the ropes, learned a little bit about shedding tackles, finding the right holes as he developed as a running back.
01:00And now in his second year, you just see the confidence that he oozes.
01:04He knows he can play football, he knows he can compete at the highest level and shine.
01:09And especially when you get added confidence, when you know that your right tackle is one of the best football players in the entire National Football League,
01:17you realize this offensive line, when they're playing well, can open up holes and makes life a lot easier for running backs and makes life difficult for opposing defensive lines.
01:28So for Jameer Gibbs, I just thought that, you know, listen, no disrespect to David Montgomery,
01:34but you and I have talked about it and maybe even said that maybe even there should have been more opportunities for Gibbs and Montgomery to play together,
01:42for Gibbs maybe to even get more touches, ride the hot hand.
01:46And more often than not, the hot hand would have been Jameer Gibbs because he has the explosive style home run threat.
01:52So what you saw against the Bears was a confident running back that hit the holes and was able to make his cuts.
01:58And really, I think everybody that saw pointed out that it just felt like Jameer Gibbs was toying with the Bears defense.
02:05And I just felt like he showed confidence.
02:08I feel like, look, that's a legitimate number one back.
02:11And that's how you treat someone who's now only in his second year is that you take advantage of their skill set.
02:17And I do think that maybe you could have mixed in a couple more runs in the first half for Craig Reynolds, especially when it got up there.
02:26But bottom line, Jameer Gibbs is a confident runner.
02:30And he's just now coming into his own where you realize, my goodness, he's learning continuously coming out of the backfield.
02:38You recognize that he's a solid blocker and he can have he has the potential on any given handoff to take the football to the house.
02:46And so he really is an asset. And he really helps, in my opinion, against teams, you know, lesser teams, sub 500 against the Bears team.
02:55I think that he showed he showcases why he can be an asset. He can be an electric spark for an offense.
03:02So I was impressed thoroughly with what I saw from Jameer Gibbs.
