00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we are looking at the most challenging fights in The Legend
00:09of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, from bosses to group encounters.
00:18But before we get into it, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe
00:24and ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:28Gloom Spawn Just as Guardians hunted and terrorized us
00:32in Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom has the Gloom Spawn.
00:40These nasty baddies always appear in groups and move with surprising speed for something
00:45that looks made of slime.
00:46Whether you're on the surface or in the depths, it is always best to keep your distance.
00:51If you don't, they'll quickly swarm Link, latch on, and immediately begin dealing Gloom
00:57damage.
00:58Hitting a higher vantage point and using AoE attacks, like bomb arrows, is a good strategy.
01:03Unfortunately, the fight doesn't end when you've killed all the hands, as they'll
01:07immediately spawn a Phantom Ganon.
01:10He's not as strong here as his actual boss fights, but that's still pretty uncool.
01:21Clash at the Scorching Coliseum There are several Coliseums found in the depths
01:32where Link can earn a helpful piece of armor by conquering enemies.
01:36Most of them aren't too bad, but the Scorching Coliseum can surprise you especially if you
01:41find it early on.
01:43Found underneath Death Mountain, it will pit Link against waves of Moblins.
01:47First he'll face two red Moblins, then two blue, then two black, then one silver, then
01:53a round of four with one of each color.
01:56While you should grow used to fighting Moblins on the surface, these come with the added
01:59ability to inflict the Gloom status effect, making it harder to heal if they hit you.
02:09Marbled Goma Link has fought many different Gomas, whether
02:20she be a spider or some other giant creepy crawly thing.
02:24This version is fought at the end of the Fire Temple, and while it is a fairly straightforward
02:29fight, she can mess you up if you aren't careful.
02:32Link will have to heavily rely on Yunobo's dash ability to break apart its rocky legs.
02:37This stuns her, allowing you to climb up and melee the hell out of her eye.
02:43Of course, she'll be trying to stomp and drop exploding rocks on you while you aim
02:47your ally.
02:48She's on the ceiling for the second phase, which makes lining up your shots a bit trickier,
02:53and her explosive boulders will now try to trap you in a circle.
03:02Flux Construct 3 Flux Constructs are new enemies in Tears
03:12of the Kingdom, coming in three increasingly stronger forms.
03:16While players have figured out ways to cheese these fights, confronting them head on can
03:20provide a decent challenge.
03:22The Flux Construct 3 is naturally the strongest and most durable, but the biggest problem
03:27is its speed.
03:29One of its forms flies high in the air, launching blocks from its body at Link, and another
03:34is a cube that rolls around alarmingly quickly, making it tough to pull apart its body with
03:39Ultra Hand.
03:40When fighting these things, you'll have to react quickly if you don't want Link to
03:44get ragdolled.
03:52Master Koga Master Koga was a bit of a joke in Breath
04:01of the Wild, so we're grateful Nintendo beefed him up for the sequel.
04:05The leader of the Yiga Clan has been living in the depths ever since falling into a giant
04:09hole.
04:10While he is fought across four phases, they aren't in a row.
04:14Rather, you'll find him in different areas for each one.
04:17This makes him more manageable, but certain phases are still a challenge.
04:21He shows you how irksome it is to face someone with the Ultra Hand ability by fighting you
04:25in a tank, a glider, a ship, and a Construct.
04:29That last one is definitely the most troublesome, with homing rockets and laser beams.
04:40Proving Grounds Flow There are a handful of shrines in Tears
04:50of the Kingdom that take away Link's gear and armor, forcing you to defeat enemies without
04:55your safety nets.
04:57One of them is the Sifu Mim Shrine.
04:59Here Link is only given an old shield and a couple of sticks.
05:02Meanwhile, several Constructs float around on rafts through tiered platforms, firing
05:07down on you with electrified arrows.
05:10It can be pretty annoying at the start before you can steal one of their bows.
05:15The shock arrows are pretty mean, especially if you happen to be swimming when one of the
05:19enemies spots you.
05:20Like all combat shrines, the difficulty depends on how many hearts you've earned throughout
05:24your travels.
05:25Generally speaking, though, this is one of the harder proving grounds.
05:35Blue-White Froxes Like Flux Constructs, there are ways to cheese
05:45fights against froxes.
05:46Gigantic, frog-like mini-bosses found in the depths.
05:50But again, if you fight them head on, they'll certainly put up a fight.
05:54The Blue-White variant is the toughest in the game, being faster and having a larger
05:58health pool than the others.
06:01It can leap ridiculously long distances, trying to squish you even when you think you're
06:06safe.
06:07The easiest way to deal with it is throwing or shooting a bomb inside its mouth when it
06:10tries to suck Link up, but there's no guarantee it will actually perform this move.
06:15If it doesn't, you can stun it by shooting it in the eye, which is naturally a harder
06:19target to hit, before attacking the gem nodes on its back.
06:30Muk-Turok This weird little guy shows us bosses don't
06:38have to be giant to be intimidating.
06:40Or annoying.
06:42Caught in this game's water temple, Muk-Turok is a perfect name considering it's an Octorok
06:46variant and it covers the arena in sludge.
06:49This hazard can be very problematic as it slows Link's movement and takes away his
06:54jump.
06:55Sidon's ability can protect you from it, as can certain resources.
06:59That doesn't change the fact that Muk-Turok rides a quick-moving sludge shark and can
07:04fire a tracking beam.
07:06In the second phase, it'll rain sludge down and mostly stick to those covered areas, still
07:11moving quickly and being extra hard to hit.
07:14It's a pretty easy boss to dislike.
07:22Proving Grounds The Hunt
07:29By far one of the most obnoxious shrines in the game is the Maya Chedeg Shrine.
07:35In this Proving Grounds challenge, Link must rely on little bots that roll around, targeting
07:40enemies by fusing certain materials to them to make them deadlier.
07:44The problem is that they move at a snail's pace.
07:47They're so slow, in fact, that if and when a construct spots Link, it can easily sidestep
07:53the bot, rush over, and kick his teeth in.
07:56So to speak.
07:57And gods help you if it's a group that comes running your way.
08:00You can try to hide and be patient, but your little helpers don't deal a lot of damage.
08:06So your options are to either be annoyed or be bored.
08:16Armored Lynels
08:23Lynels gained a reputation in Breath of the Wild for being some of the toughest enemies
08:27Link could face.
08:28While Tears of the Kingdom didn't receive the mighty gold Lynels like its predecessor
08:33did through DLC, it did get its own nasty variant.
08:37Armored Lynels now appear, giving Link an extra layer to chip through before he can
08:41actually deal damage.
08:43Anything that makes these enemies stronger is unwelcome.
08:46Any Lynel variant can come with armor, so an armored silver Lynel is obviously going
08:51to be the strongest.
08:52However, the armored versions are also only found in the Depths, meaning they also have
08:57the ability to inflict Gloom damage with every hit.
09:05Phantom Ganon
09:12In addition to spawning after Link kills Gloom's spawn, Phantom Ganon provides a pretty tough
09:17boss fight.
09:18You'll fight him once in the Deku Tree Chasm, but the far more challenging encounter happens
09:23in Hyrule Castle.
09:25Here he splits into several copies, which is challenging enough.
09:29Your Sage companions will rush into the fight, which is nice, but that means you can't use
09:34their abilities unless you jump into the fray as well.
09:37Unfortunately, these Phantoms also deal Gloom damage, and Link is their main target.
09:43Even if you keep your distance, they can also teleport.
09:46It shouldn't be surprising given the climactic location, but this is probably the hardest
09:51the villain's Phantom form has ever been.
09:58The Demon King's Army
10:00Let's talk about one of the final big combat encounters in the story.
10:14As Link delves deeper into the Depths beneath Hyrule in search of Ganondorf, he'll eventually
10:19be confronted by the Demon King's Army.
10:22Similar to encounters with large enemy groups in other sections, the Army will have a single
10:26health bar to whittle down.
10:28However, being in the Depths, they will all inflict Gloom.
10:32It's best to always be on the move lest Link quickly be overwhelmed.
10:36Thankfully, the actual Sages join you in the fight, but you can actually make this part
10:41much, much harder on yourself if you reach this area without completing their dungeons.
10:46Not only will they not be there, but you'll have to fight the bosses you skipped after
10:51the Army.
10:58The Seized Construct
11:05At the end of the Spirit Temple, Link and Minoru must face off against the Seized Construct,
11:11a robot overflowing with Gloom.
11:14What makes this fight a little tricky is being forced to ride on Minoru's back, since the
11:19arena itself is also covered in Gloom.
11:22The Construct uses a variety of Zonai devices to attack you while you try to knock your
11:26opponent into an electrical field that makes up each wall.
11:30While Minoru can be very helpful in traversal, she's a bit harder to get used to in combat.
11:36That's especially true when it's your first time getting to use her and in the second
11:40phase, when the Seized Construct grows more aggressive.
11:50Queen Gibdo
11:56It was nice seeing the creepy Gibdos make a return, but their queen is the very definition
12:01of something that should be killed with fire.
12:03Or, in this case, lightning.
12:06Link and Riju will get ambushed outside the Lightning Temple, but the actual battle doesn't
12:11occur until the end.
12:12Like some others on our list, the winged behemoth fires a tracking beam that can be fairly annoying.
12:18She'll also produce sandstorms and, during the second phase, spawn hordes of Gibdos.
12:24The sheer amount of minions can be a bit hard to deal with, as you'll have to destroy their
12:28spawn points to make them stop, and it isn't as if the queen lets up on her attacks.
12:38Clash at the Floating Coliseum
12:40We've already talked about armored Lynels, but this encounter deserves its own spot.
12:50By far the hardest combat challenge in The Depths is the one found at the Floating Coliseum.
12:56In order to get Majora's Mask, Link must face several Lynel fights in a row.
13:02It begins with a regular one and escalates in power for five total fights, ending with
13:07an armored silver variant.
13:10Of course, this being found in The Depths, they can all deal gloom damage too.
13:15This is an encounter you should be heavily prepared for with the proper meals to nullify
13:19the gloom effect.
13:21But if you stumble upon this without the proper resources, it will be an uphill battle.
13:33Flame Gleok
13:41Gleoks make a return in Tears of the Kingdom as overworld bosses and come in a few variations.
13:47While the Flame Gleok is perhaps the easiest to deal with, that doesn't make it weak.
13:53You should still come prepared with armor that can make its fire attacks less of a hassle,
13:57and ice materials you can fuse to weapons to deal more damage.
14:01Still, its fire beams can be gnarly, and the massive fireball it unleashes when close to
14:07death can potentially kill you outright.
14:10However, one thing that makes this version a little easier is that this giant fireball
14:14creates a huge updraft, making it easier to get into the air and attack when the Flame
14:20Gleok is out of range.
14:28Thunder Gleok
14:34Just like in Breath of the Wild, getting electrocuted is one of the more disheartening side effects
14:39of combat in Tears of the Kingdom.
14:41That's even more true if you happen to be holding a metal weapon, which Link will drop
14:45as soon as he's shocked.
14:48This makes the Thunder Gleok a pain, on top of the other aspects that make these bosses
14:53hard in the first place.
14:55If you happen to have the Thunder Helm or an upgraded rubber armor set, these fights
14:59are much easier.
15:01But if you don't, a Thunder Gleok can easily annihilate poor Link.
15:06The attack it unleashes while close to death is a tad more troublesome than the Flame Gleok's
15:10giant fireball.
15:12While the Lightning Storm also produces updrafts, avoiding multiple attacks instead of one is
15:17obviously a little harder.
15:25Frost Gleok
15:32Each elemental Gleok will have its own issues to deal with.
15:36Unless you have the proper armor, the Frost Gleok will easily freeze Link, which hurts
15:41and stuns, opening him up for further damage.
15:44Again, if you have the proper armor, you can nullify the freezing effect.
15:49If not, the Frost Gleok seems the most adept of the three at making you regret it.
15:54The most challenging aspect is the attack it unleashes while close to death and high
15:58up in the air.
15:59While the other two have attacks that produce updrafts, this one shoots down massive icicles
16:04that act as platforms Link can recall.
16:07Better be quick, though, because they can break pretty quickly and there's no guarantee
16:11another won't fall right on top of you when you're trying to activate your ability.
16:22King Gleok
16:29What's worse than a Gleok?
16:31One that holds the power of all three elements, of course.
16:35King Gleok isn't necessarily fought differently than the regular ones, but the problem is
16:39that each of its heads uses one of three elements found in the others.
16:44Not only does this force you to constantly swap what damage type you're using, but
16:49also your armor to avoid being annihilated by one of its beams.
16:53It will also fly up high after you've dealt enough damage, where it will spam elemental
16:59attacks.
17:00There are four of these bad boys to find, and they're all going to pose a challenge.
17:04But the absolute worst one is found in the depths, as it has the added annoyance of inflicting
17:10gloom on top of everything else.
17:18Ganondorf
17:24A shocker, I know.
17:25The Demon King packs a mean punch, and a few other powerfully annoying skills as well.
17:32Similar to some of his past appearances, Ganondorf is fought in a few phases, this time three.
17:37The first has a variety of weapons, all of which inflict gloom, and will dodge normal
17:42melee attacks, leaving only arrows and the flurry rush as viable options.
17:47The second phase is the hardest of the three.
17:50Your allies can deal with his phantoms, but he'll be faster, stronger, and instead of
17:55gloom, will remove hearts if you're hit, meaning you basically can't heal.
18:00The third phase is an epic, skybound bout against his dragon form, which isn't nearly
18:05as hard as the other two.
18:07Still, the whole encounter is a gauntlet you best be prepared for.
18:20What combat encounter gave you the most trouble in Tears of the Kingdom?
18:25Head to the comments and let us know.
