00:00 Welcome to Mojo Plays!
00:10 And is it just me, or are there a lot of missing quests in Tears of the Kingdom?
00:17 Throughout Link's latest adventure, you'll come across NPCs that either cannot be helped
00:21 or can, but don't offer a traditional side quest or reward.
00:26 We've covered the worst, and we've covered the best, but for this list, we'll be looking
00:30 at places where it feels like something's missing.
00:33 Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:38 the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:42 A Lonesome Father
00:49 When you make it into the underground Gerudo shelter, you'll likely notice a jail cell
00:53 with a single occupant.
00:55 This man is Wobbin, who was tossed behind bars for trying to sneak into the town.
00:59 However, he only did so in order to see his wife Perda and their daughter, Acklette.
01:05 The whole purpose of Wobbin is to point you in the direction of the Gerudo secret shop,
01:09 where Perda works and where Link can purchase some new armor.
01:13 Many players have wondered why we can't somehow free Wobbin from his cell.
01:17 The crime obviously isn't malicious, and he could have set up camp somewhere beyond
01:21 the walls, like at the Karakara Bazaar, but even after completing the region's dungeon,
01:26 Wobbin is doomed to be held captive.
01:32 Family Recipes
01:36 Dorian was one of the more tragic NPCs in Breath of the Wild.
01:40 Once a member of the Yiga, his wife was murdered for him turning good, leaving him to raise
01:45 two daughters alone.
01:47 All three of them got side quests in the first game, yet none of them do here.
01:55 It isn't just that there are no quests tied to them.
01:59 There very easily could have been.
02:01 Underneath the Kakariko Village well, you can find a secret garden kept by Dorian's
02:05 late wife, and her journal explaining each family member's favorite recipes.
02:10 For most of us, that signified that we should make and deliver those meals, but trying to
02:15 do so causes absolutely nothing to happen.
02:24 The Missing Cook
02:33 This one you can find fairly early in the game.
02:36 After giving the cook Bermano an apple for the Today's Menu quest at Lookout Landing
02:40 and returning later, you'll find the NPC Dion.
02:44 He tells Link that Bermano went to Hyrule Castle but has yet to return.
02:48 Finding a missing NPC and perhaps defending them against monsters is classic Zelda, but
02:54 that's not what happens here.
02:56 You can find Bermano in the dining hall, next to a cooking pot, trying to remember the ingredients
03:00 for a recipe.
03:01 The recipe in question is actually plastered on a nearby wall.
03:06 And that's it.
03:07 You don't tell Bermano his friend is looking for him, or even give him the meal.
03:12 It seems he's only there to teach Link a new recipe.
03:18 The Hidden Cucco
03:26 Kaifa works at the South Aqala stable and is a bit down over her missing Cucco.
03:31 She says it's too shy to lay eggs on its own, and she thinks she hears it crying for help
03:36 at night.
03:37 Most of us completely ignored that first fact, jumped straight into the nearby well, and
03:42 tried to get the poor bird out with either an updraft or some zonai contraption.
03:46 But if you do, Kaifa won't take notice or even say anything different.
03:57 You're meant to throw another Cucco down there so that the missing one isn't shy and will
04:02 start laying you eggs.
04:04 But it feels like Kaifa is the one we're meant to help.
04:06 And it's weird Nintendo didn't even write a reaction for something many of us were bound
04:10 to try.
04:16 A Devoted Admirer
04:22 In between games, Zelda moved into Link's house in Hateno Village and had quite the
04:27 impact on the townspeople, even opening a school.
04:30 One of the children who attends the school is Karen, and when she's not in class or at
04:35 home, she runs over to Zelda's house to see if the princess has returned.
04:39 Every single day.
04:44 It feels like we should be able to do something here, at the very least help her better understand
04:48 what happened to her idol.
04:50 Karen is also the daughter of Mayor Reed, who gets a handful of his own quests.
04:55 That should make her the most quote-unquote "important" child NPC in the town, but outside
05:00 of helping Simon teach all the kids, you can't help her.
05:08 Matchmaker
05:20 Within the sewers of Gerudo Town, you'll find bottles floating down the stream with letters
05:24 from Caliban, a lonely Gerudo looking for her true love.
05:28 You'll find her in the shelter above, and if you get one of the bottles back to her,
05:32 she'll think you're the man she's been longing for.
05:35 She'll then make you meals each time you return to her, although prior to beating the lightning
05:40 temple, they'll be spoiled meals due to the supply shortage.
05:47 While that is a sort of reward, it doesn't exactly feel like we're helping her.
05:52 In fact, Link's just taking advantage to get some free food.
05:55 A regular quest would have you help her find actual love, so it feels like there's a second
06:00 half missing here.
06:06 Unlucky in Love
06:13 Speaking of Gerudo ladies looking for love, Ashai's Vo and Yu class returns from Breath
06:19 of the Wild.
06:20 This time, Link can help out in the Adult class, acting as a partner in scenarios for
06:24 each of the three students.
06:26 One is too shy to talk to him without his face covered, one needs a noble pursuit drink
06:31 from the canteen, and the other needs to see a ring flower garland from Kakariko Village.
06:43 While you can help them, this isn't a quest, and you get no reward for doing so, which
06:48 does feel a bit odd.
06:50 You can see changes in demeanor if you talked to the characters later, but fulfilling these
06:54 requirements only leads to a tiny bit of worldbuilding.
07:03 The Colossal Fossils
07:14 One of the biggest lingering questions from Breath of the Wild concerned the history of
07:18 the Leviathans, three gigantic whale-like skeletons.
07:22 So when we found the NPC Lune, who mentioned she'd be tracking them down, we thought we'd
07:27 finally learn.
07:29 Unfortunately, Lune's side quest gives us nothing in terms of answers, and so we expected
07:35 a follow-up quest to explain them after she showed us their locations, but no such quest
07:39 was ever given.
07:48 Many players retain these three are deities from past games, and are only easter eggs.
07:53 That still doesn't explain them in-game, nor does it explain other giant remains.
07:59 There are massive bones all over Hyrule, gigantic rib cages sticking out of the ground, spinal
08:05 columns buried in caves, and the like.
08:08 Other historic secrets, like the Gerudo's 8th heroine, are explored, but this remains
08:13 a mystery.
08:22 Madison's New Home
08:33 Another follow-up quest we expected to see was for Madison in her new home.
08:37 You first meet the Gerudo girl in Tarrytown, where you help her parents say goodbye as
08:41 she goes off to her new life.
08:43 It's a very touching quest, and honestly one of the best in the game, but it made us think,
08:48 "Oh, we helped her say goodbye to one life, and now we'll help her get used to another
08:52 one."
08:53 Not the case.
08:58 While you can find Madison in Gerudo Town afterwards, she's doing fine on her own.
09:03 The hot air balloon she arrived in, which you helped her father make, made her instantly
09:07 popular with the other kids.
09:09 Guess she doesn't need us anymore.
09:15 A Flailing Partner
09:26 Potential Princess Sightings consists of 12 connected side quests for the Lucky Clover
09:30 Gazette, which means you see a whole lot of the Rita Reporter, Pin, while completing it.
09:36 Afterwards, Tracy will tell you that Pin, feeling a bit dejected since you did most
09:41 of the work, has gone to Wash's Bluff in search of a way to improve himself.
09:45 When you find him there, he speaks of a bard, an obvious nod to Cas from the first game,
09:50 and how he hopes to find similar inspiration here for his reporting.
10:00 We expected something here in order to actually help him, or at the mention of Cas, a way
10:05 to understand his mysterious absence.
10:08 Not only do we get no explanation as to the whereabouts of one of Breath of the Wild's
10:12 best characters, but we also can't help one of this game's best characters.
10:17 Sorry Pin.
10:22 Have you come across any other similar instances?
10:25 Share them with us in the comments, and don't forget to check out these other great videos!
10:39 See you next time!
