00:00Good morning. This is the latest weather update for Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
00:09We are still monitoring the low-pressure area inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
00:16The low-pressure area is said to be embedded in the Intertropical Convergence Zone.
00:21That is the line of clouds that we can see here in our latest satellite animation.
00:26And as of 2 a.m., the LPA is upgraded to high.
00:31This means that in the next 24 hours, there may be a typhoon.
00:36This is the low-pressure area that we are monitoring.
00:39So let's stay tuned for the updates that will be released in the next hours
00:43about the low-pressure area that is being monitored.
00:46As of 3 a.m., this was last seen at a distance of 155 kilometers east-southeast of Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
00:53And we can see in our latest satellite animation,
00:57the clouds that are being brought by this low-pressure area
01:01are affecting a large part or the whole of Visayas and Mindanao.
01:05So let's hope for the rainy season in a large part of Visayas and Mindanao area today.
01:11Meanwhile, in a large part of Luzon or particularly over Luzon area,
01:15here in the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, in the Quezon and Bicol region,
01:20the shear line is affected.
01:21And the northeast monsoon is also affected in a large part of Luzon.
01:27So we are hoping that these weather systems will continue to be affected in a large part of our country,
01:35especially this low-pressure area that is being monitored,
01:38that it is possible for a rainy season in Visayas and Mindanao until Friday.
01:44So double caution to our countrymen,
01:46because we are continuously expecting rain,
01:49especially in low-lying or flood-prone areas,
01:53flooding or landslides are possible.
01:56So double caution to our countrymen in Visayas and Mindanao area.
02:01We know that there will be a time here in Luzon today,
02:05due to the effect of the northeast monsoon,
02:08it will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains today
02:14here in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, Administrative Region, and Aurora.
02:19And earlier, as we mentioned, the shear line is affected in the eastern sections of Southern Luzon,
02:25in the Quezon and Bicol region,
02:28so the weather will also be gloomy today,
02:31with possible moderate to heavy rains.
02:33So double caution to our countrymen in Bicol,
02:36and also to our countrymen in the Quezon Province,
02:39it is possible to experience floods and landslides,
02:43especially in low-lying or flood-prone areas.
02:46In the southern part of Luzon,
02:49it will experience cloudy skies until cloudy skies,
02:52which is what we are expecting today,
02:54so there is still a chance of sudden or moderate rains.
02:57Usually, it is possible to experience only light or landslides today
03:02in most parts of Luzon,
03:04in the Ilocos Region,
03:06some parts of Central Luzon,
03:08here in Metro Manila,
03:10some parts of Mimaropa and Quezon Province,
03:12in the Calabarzon area.
03:14So the weather will only be gloomy,
03:16especially in the areas of Calabarzon and Mimaropa,
03:18due to the effects of the northeast monsoon,
03:21as well as the shear line.
03:22As for the temperature forecast today,
03:25in the neighboring cities here in Luzon,
03:27it will reach 31 degrees Celsius.
03:30It is a bit cold in Taguigaraw today,
03:32where the temperature will reach 22 to 28 degrees Celsius.
03:38For Baguio,
03:40the temperature will reach 15 to 24 degrees Celsius.
03:4431 degrees Celsius is the maximum temperature here in Metro Manila,
03:4830 degrees Celsius for Legazpi,
03:50and for Tagaytay,
03:52it will reach 23 to 29 degrees Celsius.
03:56As for the weather in most parts of the country,
04:01like what we saw in our latest satellite image earlier,
04:04or satellite animation,
04:06the low-pressure areas will still be flooded,
04:09as well as the Intertropical Convergence Zone
04:12in the entire Visayas and Mindanao.
04:14So in the afternoon, the dark time that we expect,
04:16moderate to heavy rains are also possible.
04:19So be careful to our countrymen over Visayas and Mindanao area.
04:24Meanwhile, here in Palawan,
04:26it will be partly cloudy until the sky is cloudy as well.
04:29And if there is rain,
04:31mostly isolated raindrops will fall.
04:34So these are the sudden raindrops
04:37that we usually experience in the afternoon or at night.
04:41As for the temperature forecast for the neighboring cities
04:44in Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao area,
04:46here in Kalayaan Islands,
04:48the maximum temperature will reach 32 degrees Celsius.
04:52As for the neighboring cities,
04:54here in Kabisayaan, Iloilo, Cebu, and Tacloban,
04:58the maximum temperature will reach 30 degrees Celsius,
05:02as well as in Cagayan de Oro and Metro Davao.
05:05And here in Zamboanga,
05:07the water temperature will range from 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.
05:13As for the condition of our ocean,
05:16we have already issued a gale warning
05:18for our neighboring countries.
05:20However, we have to be extra careful
05:22with our plans for the coastal areas of Luzon
05:24and the eastern seaboards of our country.
05:27We are hoping that it will be calm
05:29until the sea level rises.
05:31So be extra careful with our fishermen
05:34as well as those who have small fishing boats.
05:37Our sunrise is at 6.14 a.m.
05:41and sunset is at 5.30 p.m.
