00:00I wouldn't be surprised if he goes from 10 to 1.
00:03Oh, are we predicting?
00:04I personally feel like the girlies were kind of just like,
00:08OK, the boys are fighting.
00:10I want to I want to have fun.
00:11Like, pack it up.
00:11Like, please, where's Lotto?
00:13Where's Glow?
00:13Let's go on tour.
00:14Let's wear our cheetah prints.
00:15I do think that Jay-Z might have known that this was coming.
00:18And that's why the response was so quick.
00:21I do believe it might have been prepared already.
00:26Yo, yo, yo, what's going on, y'all?
00:27And welcome to a fresh episode of Billboard Unfiltered,
00:30number 25.
00:32Let's go.
00:33What it do, what it do.
00:34It may look a little different because we fired some cats.
00:36But we'll get some fresh superstars.
00:39Brother Kyle's still in the building.
00:40I try, I try to stay around.
00:41You kept your job.
00:42His job is still here.
00:44But we have two amazing superstars
00:47representing Vibe magazine.
00:49To my left, Miss Amber Corrine, new staff writer,
00:54beast all across.
00:56Make sure y'all see her interview
00:57for the Resume and Flow cast.
01:00Go watch that.
01:01Miss Lotto, Luda, DJ Khaled.
01:04And we have, can I say an award-winning podcast?
01:07Can I do that?
01:08Oh my goodness, I was not prepared for this.
01:10An award-winning podcast.
01:13She's also the associate news editor for Vibe magazine,
01:17Miss Regina Cho.
01:19Hello, Carl.
01:20Look at us potting together.
01:22Look at us potting together.
01:22Look at us potting.
01:23This is a happy family.
01:26Carl and I go way, way, way back.
01:27He met me as a baby billboard intern and look at us now.
01:31I followed him to BMC.
01:32We got superstars all across the board here.
01:35I'm just happy to be in y'all company and greatness.
01:37And I think we're going to have fun today
01:39because we caused a little tizzy.
01:42When don't we?
01:43We caused a little tizzy online last week
01:45when we unleashed our final iteration
01:48of the hottest female rappers of 2024.
01:51In case you guys missed it, in June, 2024,
01:53we unleashed our first version of the list.
01:56Top three, it was, I want to say Megan Thee Stallion
02:00was three, Sexy Red two, Nicki Minaj one.
02:03And then we came back with the final ranking
02:06where we fucked things up a little bit.
02:08We shook it up a little bit.
02:11We're going to give the top 10
02:13so you guys can get the full picture.
02:15Number 10, Cardi B, number nine, Rapsody,
02:18number eight, JT, number seven, Doja,
02:21number six, Dolce, number five, Lotto,
02:24four, Sexy Red, three, Nicki Minaj,
02:26two, Megan Thee Stallion, one, Ms. Glow, Rilla.
02:31Shout out to Glow.
02:32She was originally number six in the June, 2024 ranking.
02:36Shot from six to one.
02:38If you are looking for the omissions from the original list,
02:41no Flow Millie and no Ice Spice.
02:47Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:48The new entries include Rapsody at number nine.
02:51Shout out to Rap and Dolce at number six.
02:54So I think it's only right, brother Kyle,
02:56we start with the ladies first
02:58to get their thoughts on the list.
03:01What did y'all think?
03:02Did we do this right?
03:03Anything that was glaring?
03:05I will say that Glow Rilla at number one,
03:08any list that does not include Glow Rilla at number one,
03:10I feel like causes an uproar
03:11because it is undeniable the year that she has had.
03:14So you guys definitely got that right.
03:15Thank you, thank you, thank you.
03:16And you did highlight this,
03:18but I came in here ready to highlight this.
03:21It is so remarkable how June, Dolce was not on the list
03:23and now she's at number six.
03:25The ascension that she has had in the past few months
03:28is just so amazing to see
03:30and I feel very vindicated as an early Dolce stan.
03:33Like you guys did great in this list.
03:35And I'm not just saying that because I'm biased
03:36because I'm sitting right next to you guys,
03:37but it's very, very, very accurate.
03:39And I'll shout out my MVPs before Amber goes.
03:41My year was defined in Lotto, Glow Rilla obviously,
03:46and Megan Thee Stallion.
03:47That's a great story.
03:48That's good.
03:49I have to back everything she's saying.
03:51You guys got it right with Glow.
03:52She should definitely be number one.
03:53It was the year of Glow.
03:55Everybody knows that.
03:56I have to say though, I am a official Barb, you know?
03:59So I'm very happy to see Nicki Minaj in the top five.
04:02I would maybe make her number two, you know?
04:05But I'm very happy to see her in the top five.
04:09It's amazing to see Dolce on there.
04:10She's had an amazing year.
04:11I would like to see Tiara Whack too.
04:13That's my girl, that's my girl.
04:14But I can't disagree with what you guys did.
04:17Good job.
04:18I love that.
04:19Brother Kyle.
04:20You know, I have my qualms
04:23with the first iteration of the list,
04:25and I'm happy with this version of it.
04:28I'm happy to see my girl JT moving up a spot.
04:30Shout out to JT.
04:31I'm incredibly proud of the year that she's had.
04:33So to see her make her strides as a soloist
04:36outside of City Girls and really establish herself
04:38in that way has been really, really awesome to see.
04:41I definitely agree that Lotto
04:43was another defining artist, I think, across the board,
04:45regardless of genre or gender for me this year.
04:49I feel like every time I was outside,
04:51I heard a Lotto song or something from that album.
04:53So those two, happy to see.
04:55If I had to champion one person who didn't make the list,
04:58it would probably be Lil' Sims.
05:00I love Drop 7 this year.
05:02Fever is one of my favorite songs.
05:04She seems to be one of the few rappers
05:06who can actually do the Brazilian funk thing well
05:09and make it actually work.
05:10I think she's just an incredible talent.
05:12So I would put my money behind her.
05:15Yeah.
05:16Shout out to Sim.
05:17She's been doing it for a minute.
05:19I think the one person I wanna highlight,
05:19this may surprise, actually, no,
05:21I don't think it's gonna surprise y'all.
05:23And it's more so because of how she responded
05:26to her ranking.
05:27I wanna give a shout out to Cardi.
05:29Okay.
05:30You know, because somebody of that magnitude,
05:33she's considered in the Heraldic Big Three,
05:35whether it's her, Meg, or Nicki, she was number 10.
05:38Yeah.
05:39And to be quite frank,
05:40there were discussions about her being off the list.
05:43They were.
05:44Altogether.
05:44I mean, she did put out, like, What?
05:46enough.
05:47She had some dope features.
05:48One with Rob 49.
05:50But this is not, like,
05:52we're used to seeing Cardi in superstar form.
05:54And she has not been that this year.
05:57You know, a fan tried to clap at her and just say,
05:59ma'am, like, you're number 10.
06:02So I think you need to get back in the studio.
06:04And she took it with grace.
06:05She was just like, yo, listen, like,
06:06the other, shout out to the other women.
06:08They've been putting in the work.
06:10I have not put out an album in eight years.
06:13It's coming in 2025.
06:15She could have just said, fuck all y'all.
06:17Why am I this low?
06:19But she took it with grace.
06:20And I think Cardi is going to put herself
06:22in a position to have an explosive 2025.
06:26I wouldn't be surprised if she goes from 10 to one.
06:29Oh, are we predicting?
06:30Next year.
06:31I feel like that, her reaction doesn't surprise me
06:33because she always struck me as a real ass bitch.
06:36Like, she really is self-aware and she's like,
06:38I didn't even put out the album that I promised this year.
06:41I had a lot of personal struggles.
06:42Like, that's where my focus was.
06:43So I really didn't picture her being up in arms
06:46about being named number 10.
06:48Like, she really knows, like, okay,
06:49this is the year that I've had.
06:50I get it, guys.
06:51I take your criticisms and just watch me in 2025.
06:55I feel like that's where she's at.
06:56Yeah.
06:57I totally agree.
06:58I think we all just want to see Cardi drop.
07:00Like, you know, she's been teasing us for so long.
07:01I just want to hear what she has, you know, in 2025.
07:04I agree wholeheartedly.
07:05I think the one person too, I was a little annoyed.
07:08Shout out to my sister, Rhapsody,
07:09because I feel like bar wise,
07:11she's probably the best one on this list.
07:13Absolutely.
07:14I was just a little surprised by some of the fan reactions
07:17because I found myself over the weekend
07:19watching reaction videos on YouTube.
07:21There were a couple.
07:22Of this?
07:23Yeah, there were a couple.
07:24I gotta tap in, wait.
07:25Some of the guys, they were coming at Rhapsody
07:27and just like, yo, no, he, like, who is Rhapsody?
07:30What is Rhapsody?
07:31I thought that was a music app.
07:34Knowing that she's been doing this for like over 10 years.
07:37She's been nominated multiple times over for a Grammy.
07:40And I just feel like the lack of respect
07:43that she gets on her name,
07:44especially with her being a high caliber MC, it's nuts.
07:47Like she's been featured on a record with Kendrick Lamar.
07:50She obviously has the whole stamp.
07:52Like she is really a true MC when it comes down to it.
07:56And I just wish more people were able to at least respect it.
07:59Sure, she might not make the music
08:01that you appreciate, the dance music,
08:03but shorty could bar up.
08:05She could bar up.
08:06So I hope for her,
08:07I know she was super excited to be on the list.
08:08I'm curious to see what she's able to do going forward.
08:11Obviously she dropped out in this year,
08:13whether it's features, freestyle,
08:14she did the dope TV all freestyle.
08:16That was so hard.
08:17And it was, she was coming off the top too
08:18at a certain point.
08:19That was crazy.
08:20So I want to commend her for that.
08:21I want to also shout out Nicki Minaj, man.
08:23I think with Nicki,
08:25it's incredible to see her being number one
08:27on the initial list without dropping an album.
08:29Yeah, Pink Friday 2 came out the tail end of last year,
08:32but this year she hasn't put out an album.
08:35And for her to go from one to three,
08:37cats were like, yo, what's going on here?
08:40She didn't really put out music,
08:42but she had a record breaking tour.
08:44Yeah, that's what it is right there.
08:46The tour.
08:47Like that's what cats forgot why she's really that high.
08:49That tour is the highest selling tour
08:52for a female rapper ever.
08:55And I think she's what, top five or top three now?
08:57I think top four maybe?
08:59I think it's Travis, Drake, Kendrick or 50,
09:02don't quote me, but she's in the top five.
09:05And that says a lot.
09:06I just think overall what we've been seeing
09:08from female rappers in general.
09:10Gentlemen, we got to get our shit together
09:13because the ladies are running the table
09:16and they're fucking annihilating us every step of the way.
09:20I'm curious, who do you guys want to see
09:23potentially next year?
09:25What do you mean by see?
09:26In terms of whether it's like climbing up
09:28or just whoever's gonna make it on the list?
09:31I think I was very satisfied.
09:34As I said, I feel like the girls that you guys included
09:37are getting their flowers through this.
09:38And I think we already alluded to my answer, it's Cardi.
09:41I'm ready for the Cardi takeover.
09:42I believe that, I know why she's taking so long
09:45for the sophomore album
09:46because of the crippling expectations,
09:49but I do think it's gonna live up to the hype.
09:50She makes amazing music, she knows how to make hits,
09:52she knows how to collaborate with all the hot artists.
09:55I think she's gonna deliver.
09:56But I just wanted to shout out,
09:58I wanted to touch on something you said
09:59about the girls running laps around the guys.
10:02I have a, I don't want to call it a theory
10:04or just something I just wanted to talk to you guys about.
10:07I feel like the reason why this is the year of,
10:12when we think of rap, we think of the girlies.
10:15In the middle of the year was the rap beef,
10:18the infamous marquee rap beef
10:19between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
10:21And although I don't want to minimize
10:23the effects that it had,
10:24I'm not saying that it wasn't important.
10:27But after the dust kind of settled, I feel like,
10:29people kind of looked at it like,
10:31this just made the air so negative and crazy and dark.
10:35The sexual assault allegations,
10:37the heinous claims being thrown around.
10:39I personally feel like the girlies were kind of just like,
10:42okay, the boys are fighting, I want to have fun.
10:45Pack it up, please, where's Lotto, where's Glow?
10:48Let's go on tour, let's wear our cheetah print.
10:49So I feel like that's why the mood was very like,
10:54let's focus on the girls and have fun.
10:55They're rapping about fun shit.
10:57So I feel like that's why the shift was so female-focused.
11:02Does that make sense?
11:03Like, we were kind of sick of the negativity,
11:06or am I kind of just like, in my bubbles?
11:08Yeah.
11:09Let's party a little bit.
11:10But the girls were fighting too.
11:12The girls were fighting, top of the year.
11:15There we go.
11:17It was Nikki and Megan.
11:18Yeah, Nikki and Megan, right, exactly.
11:20So they were fighting too.
11:21They were the ones who kickstarted the whole competitive
11:23rap feud.
11:24There they was.
11:25Shout out to both women, Megan Thee Stallion,
11:28according to the masses, pulled it out,
11:31pulled out the W.
11:32Well, yes.
11:34Some people like Bigfoot, some people like it.
11:37And they can like it, they can like it.
11:39But it did go number one.
11:41So shout out to Meg, that was her first solo number one.
11:44Big shout out to Meg.
11:45But I'm super glad with how this list turned out.
11:48So yeah, I want you all to stay tuned
11:51because this is going to be an annual thing.
11:53The next update is going to be June, 2025.
11:57Which I'm so interested
11:58because I wonder how many of these ladies drop again
12:00next year because so many of them dropped this year.
12:03I wonder what it looks like next year.
12:05Do we get them all coming back again?
12:06Is it quieter on the female side next year?
12:09Like we get some mixtapes instead of full albums.
12:12Like what does that look like?
12:13That could be really cool to see.
12:15I will say one confirmation we do have,
12:17well, if she keeps the promise.
12:18Dolce did say her debut album
12:20is definitely dropping next year.
12:22So that'll be very exciting.
12:23So I hope that really happens.
12:24It's interesting you said that too
12:25because DJ Head came out and tweeted like,
12:28yo, wait till y'all hear this new Dolce music.
12:31She's going to ruffle and shake up the list.
12:33So I'm curious to see.
12:35She gets that one song,
12:36that one Dolce song that really breaks her.
12:38Like she had what it is,
12:39but I feel like that wasn't really representative
12:42of like who Dolce is as an artist,
12:44especially in this current state.
12:45If she can get that one song next year,
12:47I feel like number one is definitely hers.
12:50I agree.
12:52I have a question for you Billboard guys.
12:54Is there anyone that you're surprised
12:56that didn't make it to this?
12:57Like maybe like Ice Spice,
12:59are you surprised that she wasn't,
13:00she didn't come through like we thought she would
13:03or how they hyped her up to-
13:04Yeah, I would say that I was surprised
13:08that her year turned out the way that it did.
13:10I'm not surprised that she didn't make the list
13:12by the end of the year.
13:14We start off the year, Super Bowl commercials,
13:17she's in the box with T-Swift and fart is top 40.
13:20That's her highest speaking solo song on this chart.
13:22Like stuff is looking up for her
13:24and then it just does not stay up for the rest of the year.
13:28The followup singles don't really make any noise.
13:31The album is two packs of ass.
13:32I'm sorry.
13:33So love you Ice.
13:35You really ruled the year for me with Barbie
13:39and Munch and the like,
13:40but that album, I know you can come harder than that
13:42because you have come harder than that on the Like EP.
13:44So get back in the booth, make something harder,
13:47make something better.
13:49You can definitely come back on the list next year
13:51for sure, like the potential is there.
13:52We know you can make hits and stuff,
13:53but this year just really wasn't her year.
13:55But to shout out to her though, that tour,
13:57she did do that overseas and in the States,
14:00sold those dates out, packed out those venues.
14:02So shout out to her doing that by herself
14:04and headlining that tour.
14:05But other than that, it was a rough year
14:09for my New York sister.
14:11Two packs of ass.
14:12I was just about to read that, very creative.
14:15Yeah, I will say for sister Isis,
14:19I mean, her going back and forth with Lotto,
14:20we was talking about competitive rap,
14:22Lotto kind of sautéed her.
14:23Oh yeah.
14:24And kind of came out on top.
14:27She showed how, mentioning the EP,
14:29like how that was so well-received by Ice Spice's fans
14:32and then this debut album was not well-received.
14:35I think Lotto kind of put the proof in the pudding
14:38where her 777 era was great,
14:40but then this Sugar Honey Ice Tea era,
14:42her fans loved it.
14:43So she kind of put out a masterclass of like,
14:45this is how you drop a project
14:47and create like a whole moment around it
14:49and I feel like Ice Spice didn't do that at all.
14:50And would y'all agree that Sugar Honey Ice Tea,
14:53you know as an acronym, it's shit.
14:55Yeah.
14:55And remember the whole Ice Spice thing,
14:57I'm like, that's such a perfect way
14:59to just get back at somebody and be like,
15:01oh, okay.
15:02I asked her about this when I interviewed her in June
15:04and she was like, there's no connection.
15:06I came up with the title before this all happened.
15:09I do not believe that.
15:10I don't know if I believe it all the way,
15:12that is what Miss Lotto told me,
15:13but I'm really still in awe at what she was able to do
15:17with Sugar Honey Ice Tea,
15:18especially considering the fact that
15:20she didn't have a big energy off this album.
15:22Right.
15:23She didn't even really have like a wheelie off this album,
15:24but this still feels like it resonated so much more
15:27with the culture as a complete body of work.
15:29And I feel like that's really very impressive for her.
15:32Agreed.
15:33Absolutely.
15:34With the final iteration of the list,
15:35we had some jumps.
15:36Dochi, not making the list initially,
15:39going to six and then Glow,
15:41initially being six, going to one.
15:43Who do you guys foresee having those kind of leaps
15:45in 2025?
15:47For me, I'm going to say Tiara Weck.
15:49I feel like she's so talented.
15:51She's so creative.
15:52I feel like she comes from the school of like Missy Elliott.
15:55If she just gets that right single,
15:56the right people behind her,
15:57I can definitely see her entering this list next year.
15:59She just has to have the right song, you know,
16:02but she's so talented.
16:03I agree.
16:04I would say Anissia.
16:06I feel like she's made some really great strides this year.
16:08Back outside was obviously a really big hit,
16:10opened up for Kehlani on tour,
16:13doing festivals across the country this year.
16:15I think if she can continue that kind of momentum,
16:17she can definitely debut in like the five to 10 range
16:20next year.
16:21I would love to see her get up there.
16:22I love her style.
16:23I like how she kind of merges Detroit with Atlanta.
16:26So I think it'd be really cool to see her up there.
16:28Back outside was a banger.
16:30I would say maybe if I really went through my arsenal
16:34of people who I've been championing for a long time,
16:36I would come up with a better answer.
16:37Cause I feel like I'm,
16:38I literally feel like I'm forgetting the one person
16:39I would say,
16:40but the person that comes to mind right now is Flo Milli.
16:42I always loved her.
16:43She makes such fun music for the girlies
16:46and she does have hits,
16:48but she doesn't have that one that took her to the moon.
16:50So she could definitely still hit that.
16:52Yeah. Flo was initially on a list.
16:53She was a 10 or nine.
16:5510. I was fighting for her to stay on there.
16:57That was a big bro.
16:58That was a massive hit.
16:59She had a good run,
17:00especially, you know, on the feature side,
17:02you know, with Megan, with Gambino.
17:05I'd probably, for me,
17:06I'm probably going to go with Samara Sittin.
17:08I love like her come up.
17:10I mean, a lot of people have been kind of giving her
17:11the Dolce comparison because like a tonality in the voice.
17:16But I think, yo, she can fucking Flo.
17:18Yeah.
17:19She can fucking rap.
17:20I think that's somebody we got to keep our eyes on
17:21who can maybe crack the top 10.
17:23Opening for Smino next year too.
17:24Yeah. That's crazy.
17:25That's a good fit.
17:26Yeah.
17:27That's going to be real good.
17:28That's going to be real good.
17:29So definitely looking forward to that.
17:31Before we wrap this,
17:32your favorite moment from a female rapper this year?
17:37Freestyle, viral.
17:38Even though it happened in January,
17:39I'm going to have to say Hiss.
17:41I feel like it really set the tone for the year in hip hop.
17:43You know, people talking their shit on a record,
17:45people just rapping on a record.
17:47It's no hook on that.
17:48It's just her spitting her bars on there.
17:51And, you know, got her first solo,
17:53number one single on the Hot 100.
17:55Like that was a really major moment.
17:57And I think a really important moment
17:59for Megan to solidify like where she was
18:01and who she was at the top of the year.
18:03And then we saw the year that came after that.
18:05So I would have to say Hiss.
18:07Yeah.
18:08I definitely want to give Megan her flowers
18:09really, really quick because it was a point
18:12we were going back and forth between Megan and Glow.
18:14Because what Meg has done this year,
18:16I thought Megan easily her best album to date.
18:19Her doing the arena tour, the documentary.
18:22Like she has just been fucking busy.
18:25So big shout out to Megan Thee Stallion
18:27for what she's been able to do.
18:28Getting her fifth top 10 on the 200.
18:31Like she's been unstoppable.
18:33Ladies?
18:34My favorite moment is at the VMAs this year,
18:38Glorilla's performance.
18:40Because like I was there and covering it
18:42and just feeling the,
18:44she just felt so comfortable.
18:47Like I'm here.
18:48Like, and I know I have a hit.
18:49I'm performing my multiple hits for you guys.
18:50And she had the choreo.
18:52She had the wardrobe.
18:53She had the dancers.
18:54Like I'm just like, yes, artist development works.
18:56You're really killing it.
18:57And just to highlight, not that I want to highlight this,
19:00but her wardrobe malfunction.
19:02And she handled that like a pro.
19:04Like I was just so proud of her.
19:05And then just that era.
19:06I feel like she's number one on the list,
19:07but we like barely talked about her,
19:09but I know you guys talked about her
19:10in a previous episode and covered that.
19:11Also around her rollout era,
19:13like her viral interview with Speedy.
19:15Like, I just feel like she's here.
19:16She just feels so great about her career.
19:19I'm really rooting for you, Glow.
19:20Congratulations on an amazing year.
19:22Yeah, Glow.
19:23I don't know if this counts,
19:24but one of my favorite rap moments for the girl,
19:26she's not really a rapper,
19:28but Beyonce rapping on Sweet,
19:29what is it, Sweet Honey?
19:30Sweet Honey Bucket.
19:31That was one of my favorite moments.
19:33But besides that,
19:34I feel like it was also the year of Lotto as well.
19:37I just love how she dropped Sugar Honey Ice Tea.
19:39You know, I've been watching her since the rap game,
19:41and I always felt like she's a spitter,
19:42like she can rap,
19:43but she hasn't had a chance to really showcase that talent.
19:46So I feel like on this album,
19:47she's really showing who she is.
19:48And I just love the rollout for it.
19:51Everything she does is big,
19:52you know, coming out as big mama.
19:53I just love this moment for her.
19:54So I'm going to give it to Lotto.
19:56Yeah.
19:57I like that.
19:58I like that.
19:58I think for me,
19:59I'm probably going to say when it was Cardi,
20:02Megan, and Glow,
20:03all three of them at the Garden,
20:06standing united.
20:07This is when Megan and Glow were on tour.
20:09Cardi came out.
20:11They did WAP.
20:12And then I think, yeah,
20:13they did the remix for Wannabe,
20:15which was fucking fire.
20:17But to see all three of them at the pinnacle,
20:19at the top of their game together,
20:21that was a powerful moment.
20:22And it kind of lets you know,
20:23like the tide is definitely changing directions.
20:28So again,
20:29shout out to the women for what they've been able to do
20:30this year.
20:32Incredible.
20:33Oh, shout out Jan Carter.
20:34We don't really talk about her a lot
20:35when it comes to like female rappers,
20:37but like 41 is so dope.
20:39And she's been putting out some of my favorite verses
20:41this year.
20:42So shout out Jan Carter.
20:43Shout out Jan Carter.
20:44Spotify and Apple released their wrap up.
20:47So we got to ask everyone here,
20:50who was the top artist on y'all wrap up list?
20:53So I personally don't have Spotify,
20:56but I use Apple music.
20:58And my top artist of the year was Chris Brown.
21:01His 11.11 album.
21:02I loved it.
21:03Residuals, Stutter,
21:05all the songs on there.
21:06He was my top like for last year too.
21:09Shout out to Breezy.
21:10I think he had easily the best concert of the year.
21:12Oh yeah, absolutely.
21:13In a year where a lot of people went on tour.
21:15A lot of people went on tour.
21:16And Doja Cat, I would say number two.
21:17Yeah, I like that.
21:18And three Grammy's, shout out to Chris.
21:20Oh, wait, why don't you go second?
21:22You want me to go?
21:23Let's keep it nice.
21:24Yeah.
21:25Well, I have Apple and Spotify.
21:27That's crazy.
21:28Oh, okay.
21:29And 2074 guys, get Spotify.
21:31And I'm proud to say that my king,
21:35Aubrey.
21:36Oh.
21:37Was a triumphant in both.
21:39Damn, you're consistent.
21:41Apple and Spotify.
21:42Threw it all.
21:42I can respect that consistency.
21:44Yeah, yeah.
21:45Oh, I love my king, man.
21:46You know, so shout out to King Aubrey.
21:47Does Family Matters your number one song?
21:49You said what?
21:50Does Family Matters your number one song?
21:51Number three.
21:51Oh, wow.
21:52I won't say one and two.
21:55I want to keep my allegiance to the two.
21:59Regina.
22:01So I don't know if it's obvious,
22:04but you know, there's a man by the name of Larry June.
22:07Hey, you've been posting a lot of-
22:10Good job, Regina.
22:10Good job.
22:11I post them like every day.
22:12Good job.
22:13Good job, Larry.
22:14Good job, Larry.
22:15I just feel like, you know, the hip hop year,
22:17I alluded to before, it was just so negative.
22:19Even though it was very entertaining and did a lot,
22:21that rap beef fed families.
22:23But like, at some point, you know,
22:25I just wanted some peaceful raps
22:26about drinking your Whole Foods smoothies
22:28and going for a bike ride.
22:29And that's literally all this man raps about,
22:32keeping a player, getting money.
22:34That type of stuff resonates with me.
22:35He was like number one here.
22:37And then everybody else was like down.
22:39It was a very big margin.
22:40So shout out to Larry June.
22:41He was my MVP for 2024.
22:43Numbers.
22:44Shout out to Larry.
22:44Numbers.
22:45I'm such a music listening, like stats nerd.
22:48So I use Last.fm.
22:50I use Apple Music, but I don't like Replay
22:52because it doesn't like do the entire calendar year.
22:55And I want my stats to be correct.
22:57But as of right now,
22:59Miss Beyonce is my number one artist of the year.
23:01Cowboy Carter is my number one album,
23:03but I will say it was funny seeing G and X
23:05sneaking to my top 10 in like a month's time.
23:07Oh really?
23:08I was nuts.
23:09That's so cool.
23:10It's so good.
23:11Fuck all y'all.
23:11You such a hater.
23:13I've been playing the shit out of it too.
23:14I'm not gonna lie.
23:15Yeah.
23:16Too good.
23:17You must have listened to it so much.
23:18I think like at least four full listens a day.
23:21Yeah.
23:22I love that shit.
23:23What's your favorite song off of there?
23:24Dodger Blue.
23:25Man in the Garden.
23:26Oh, okay.
23:27No, the replay value on that album.
23:28And it's short.
23:29It's like 40 minutes.
23:30I like that.
23:32Switching over.
23:34Mr. Carter.
23:36Mr. Sean Carter.
23:38So over the weekend,
23:40got some news.
23:41Jay Z was accused in a civil lawsuit
23:44of raping a 13 year old girl with Sean Diddy Combs.
23:49The superstar rapper strongly denied the allegations,
23:52calling them a blackmail attempt
23:54filed by a fraud lawyer.
23:56That lawyer is Tony Busby who filed the allegations.
24:00He's a Texas attorney who has filed a slew of lawsuits
24:03against Combs in recent months
24:05and has warned that he reps dozens more alleged victims.
24:12Hove put out the statement with rapid fire quickness.
24:18And he pretty much,
24:19I'll read like some excerpts.
24:21He was saying these allegations are so heinous in nature
24:24that I implore you to file a criminal complaint.
24:27So for you guys who may be unaware,
24:31Jane Doe has filed a civil suit.
24:33So Hove was saying these allegations are so heinous
24:36in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint,
24:38not a civil one.
24:40Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor
24:42should be locked away.
24:43Would you not agree?
24:45Is these alleged victims would deserve real justice
24:48if that were the case?
24:50We have seen the last year or so
24:52what has been going on with Puff
24:54who was obviously in jail at the moment.
24:57Now we are seeing Jay-Z being accused of these allegations.
25:03What were y'all instant reactions to the news
25:06when the statement came out?
25:09I remember when this news dropped,
25:11I believe it was on Sunday night.
25:13And so I remember obviously being shocked
25:15by seeing the article pop up at Trending.
25:18But the moment that I remember more is,
25:21I'm reading, reading, reading the NBC article,
25:23but the statement was tweeted out minutes after that.
25:27I remember seeing that and be like, oh my gosh,
25:30to the person I was, I was like,
25:31oh my gosh, he dropped a statement already.
25:32And it was via Roc Nation's Twitter.
25:34And I was just more so confused by the sequence of events,
25:42how quickly it was out.
25:44And we're all journalists here.
25:45And I was just kind of like, was this proofread?
25:48Because there was a typo in there.
25:50He said, I'm a young man who made out the project
25:53of Brooklyn.
25:54I was like, did someone read this over?
25:56So that was my initial gut reaction.
25:58But I do think it accomplished, in my opinion,
26:02if his mission was to make people believe
26:04that he himself, Jay-Z, wrote this statement,
26:07I believe he wrote this statement.
26:081,000%.
26:09It really sounds like he went on his phone
26:11and wrote it or a computer or whatever
26:12and tweeted it out himself.
26:14So if that was his mission, I believe he wrote it.
26:17It wasn't like some PR statement.
26:18I agree.
26:19I can't, I wasn't shocked.
26:22And it's not behind the allegations.
26:24I wasn't shocked because I felt like
26:25they were coming for Jay-Z next.
26:27I do think that Jay-Z might have known that this was coming
26:30and that's why the response was so quick.
26:33I do believe it might've been prepared already.
26:35It was definitely shocking, but not shocking
26:37to the fact of it's Jay-Z that they're coming after.
26:40Brother Kyle.
26:41I mean, when I saw the news, my stomach just kind of sank.
26:47Jay is like not only one of, not one of,
26:50he is my favorite rapper,
26:51but he's one of my favorite artists ever
26:53just across genres really of all time.
26:56I really, really have looked up to him for a long time.
26:59I'm a born and raised Brooklyn guy.
27:00Like we got a portrait of him in our public library.
27:03Like I, he's been a fixture in my life
27:07for as long as I can remember being alive.
27:10So seeing, you know, his name
27:13with those kinds of allegations next to them
27:15is never going to be a great feeling.
27:17So that was pretty heavy to sit with.
27:23Obviously I'm going to just kind of wait
27:25to see how this plays out.
27:26You know, like Amber said,
27:27I find it kind of difficult to figure out
27:31exactly what's going on here between, you know,
27:34his response and the refiling of the suit
27:37and the way Busby's been going on socials
27:39and et cetera, et cetera.
27:40So it's going to wait to see where this goes.
27:44I think most immediately my heart broke for Blue,
27:47obviously because she had her feature film debut,
27:51red carpet premiere the next day.
27:53She obviously is starring in Mufasa alongside her mom.
27:57And I, obviously they were always going to go to the premiere
28:00and celebrate that moment,
28:01but there's kind of no way to properly celebrate a moment
28:04like that hours after that news break.
28:07So I couldn't imagine having to be a 12 year old
28:11and walk a red carpet in the midst of all of this
28:15and being that specific 12 year old
28:17and knowing what we have done to her as a culture
28:19for her life so far,
28:20like my heart broke for her and continues to break for her.
28:24I hope she has got a nice system around her
28:27because it couldn't have been a pretty 48 hours
28:30in the Carter household, but yeah, this is tough.
28:34But like I said, like Amber said,
28:36I expected that they would be coming for Jay
28:40and other guys in that circle at some point in time.
28:44So it really wasn't a surprise.
28:46It was more just like, here it is.
28:48Let's just write this out and see what comes out of it.
28:52The hammer, the hammer has officially came down.
28:57I am beyond conflicted because I don't know what to believe.
29:04I think Jay made a valid point.
29:08Why not file it as a criminal suit?
29:12And I think it was because the statute of limitations
29:16might have been expired.
29:19So they might not be able to file a criminal case.
29:21I don't know if that's actually the case.
29:23So do not quote me on that.
29:25But like you said, like you're saying,
29:28like his statement also really, it did convince me,
29:30but then again, like it's supposed to.
29:32So I'm like, now I'm questioning those feelings also.
29:3524 years.
29:37At this point, like with the stories
29:39that have come out this year,
29:41it was a wild, wild West back then.
29:42So we really, I'm just saying like,
29:43we can't count out any ridiculous story
29:46that is being told at this point.
29:48Like honestly.
29:49You're a thousand percent right.
29:51I think what's so worrisome for me,
29:54because I do feel like some of these cases,
29:58this is just my belief, are money grabs.
30:01And there are real victims out here
30:04that have real stories and situations.
30:08If for whatever reason, this thing,
30:10or just some of the claims and allegations come out
30:14and they were false,
30:16yo, this has already sullied and muddied Jay's rep.
30:23He's cooked just because of the sheer allegation of it all.
30:27Whether it's true or not, I think.
30:29Public perception, he's cooked.
30:31I don't know if I, I think I'll push back on that.
30:33Because I really did experience a market difference
30:37in the way I saw my circles consume
30:40the dating news versus this news.
30:42I actually haven't even released,
30:43I think honestly, because the news cycle
30:45was just so packed this past week
30:47with the CEO killer and all this stuff
30:49that like this didn't really break through the cycle
30:51the way that it might've in another week.
30:53But a lot of people that seems to be like
30:55on my Instagram and stuff are on Jay's side
30:58and like know him.
30:59Are on Jay's side and like not believing it immediately.
31:02Whereas with the Diddy stuff,
31:03I think because we had tape of like the Cassie assault.
31:06We had, you know, we already knew that the feds
31:09were after him because they had broken into those mansions
31:11and stuff like that.
31:12So like people saw all of that stuff
31:14and they were like, yeah, we believe this.
31:16But with the Jay stuff for now, I'm not seeing as much.
31:19And some of that might also be fatigue
31:21from like the she knows shit that was happening
31:23like two months ago where everyone thought
31:25they had already solved the case against Jay.
31:27And then now that they actually have
31:28a legitimate thing against him,
31:29it's like, damn, we were kind of too early to celebrate
31:32and now it doesn't hit the same.
31:34But it's a really weird set of circumstances
31:35where I feel like the reception has been more muted
31:40than I would have anticipated
31:42for something of this magnitude for someone of Jay's stature.
31:46Yeah, it's crazy.
31:46Because when I was looking at the comments, man,
31:48some of the fans were very much like,
31:51and I think they were stripping away their fandom for Jay.
31:54And I think to what Amber is saying,
31:55it was kind of like, well, this is Jay's turn.
31:57I'm not surprised.
31:58And it's kind of a thing where it's like,
32:00you are the company you keep
32:01is what I've been seeing a lot of.
32:03So, Kat Williams, man.
32:08I don't know what kind of Juju you put on 2024.
32:10Closed up for it all.
32:12Started with Kat.
32:13It started with Kat.
32:14And that damn Shannon Sharks Club Shay Shay.
32:17That's what we really got away.
32:18Not even Kat, Shannon.
32:20That's the real Cobra right there.
32:22Nigga.
32:24He housed the bullshit.
32:27Do you guys think Kat Williams can just do,
32:29you know, another interview with Club Shay Shay
32:31at right before New Year's and close the portal?
32:34At this point, yes.
32:35Because clearly life is a movie.
32:36He can talk about everything he was right about.
32:37Maybe he can go back and say like,
32:38oh, I said this and this.
32:392025 is a peaceful year.
32:41Because so much has happened.
32:42We have lived through so many historical events.
32:44I'm tired.
32:45So, he can close it.
32:46And then 2025 will be a breeze.
32:47The Kat Williams wrap up.
32:49I'm speaking into existence.
32:49That would be great.
32:50I'm here for that.
