Councils across Wales are facing uncertain times with more and more saying there simply isn’t enough money in the coffers to provide some of their necessary provisions. We’ll be taking a look at the councils in trouble, despite the first minister saying she’s confident they’ll survive.

00:06from the Welsh Government promising an uplift in funding for local authorities, many councils
00:10are still concerned that the threat of bankruptcy has not gone away.
00:15Flincher Council have warned that there are hazards moving forward, with plenty more councils
00:19also worried they simply do not have money moving forward to provide necessary provisions.
00:25Finance Minister Mark Drakeford recently announced a draft budget with increased funding for
00:29local authorities by roughly 4.3% across the board, which still falls short of what councils
00:35are hoping for to bridge massive funding gaps.
00:40First Minister Eluned Morgan has said that any increases will never be enough, but councils
00:43across the country will be breathing a sigh of relief.
00:47Whether the funding, which is estimated to make up roughly half of the current funding
00:51gaps around Wales, is enough is yet to be said, but that sigh of relief might not be
00:55as relaxed as the First Minister hopes.
