00:00Libraries have had a tough time of it the last few years. All across the country libraries have seen numbers drastically lower.
00:08Many have had to combine facilities in order to maintain a solid need in the community.
00:13Caffilly County seems the next local authority to possibly lose a massive number of local libraries for towns and villages all across the area, as it looks to cut costs.
00:23Caffilly County Borough Council know there is a multi-million pound funding gap that needs to be fixed in the next few months in order to balance the books and keep their heads above water, unless frontline services like libraries look to be an easier solution than most.
00:38A council say that up to 12 out of 18 local libraries could be on the chopping block and are appealing to residents to have their say on the future of libraries all across the area, with the other 6 around the area being turned into hubs with added community facilities.
00:53The public consultation period is ongoing and will last until the 3rd of December.
