00:00The government is watching the needs of those affected by the eruption of Vulcan Canlaon

00:06to ensure that they will not be left behind during Christmas.

00:09That's what Gavdel Yagas wrote.

00:13It's only been two weeks and it's already Christmas.

00:15That's why the Department of Social Welfare and Development

00:18promised that Christmas will be happy for those in evacuation centers

00:21affected by the eruption of Vulcan Canlaon.

00:24We will continue to support our countrymen

00:29as part of the augmentation of support to our local government units.

00:33Especially now that it's Christmas,

00:36we don't want them to have a sad experience

00:43because of the eruption that they were displaced from.

00:45So, this time of the year,

00:48let's give them happiness, no matter how much they have the spirit of Christmas.

00:51According to the DSWD,

00:53there are already 26 evacuation centers in Region 6 and Region 7

00:58and more than 4,600 families remain here.

01:02Because of this, the agency continues to provide assistance to the victims of the eruption.

01:07As of this morning,

01:0981,500 family food packs and more than 16,100 non-food items

01:15were distributed in the regions of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.

01:19In addition, the agency also provides clean drinking water

01:25and face masks.

01:40Meanwhile, the DSWD is also working with the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council

01:45to ensure that the need for Children in Conflict with the Law

01:51or CICL

01:55We are also providing technical assistance

01:58through our regional JJA committee

02:01to help them handle the duty-bearers there

02:08like for instance, if social workers are needed.

02:11The DSWD also promised to take care of the children in evacuation centers

02:16so that their rights will not be abused and taken care of.
