00:00To give us an update on the situation of the affected areas of Vulcan Calaon, we will talk to the Office of Civil Defense Assistant Secretary, Raffy Alejandro. Good morning, Sir Raffy.
00:13Yes, good morning. Good morning.
00:15Sir, how is the situation of the affected areas of Vulcan Calaon?
00:22So far, we have 13,271 individuals in evacuation centers. So as of yesterday, in our report, there are 25. But based on our data, we have almost reached 30 because evacuation is ongoing as we speak.
00:43We have been here for 48 hours since the eruption of the volcano. We have met all their needs. For now, the DSWD is there to manage these camps and we will continue to provide relief items.
01:03So now, our focus is really to prepare for a worst-case scenario. That means if it doesn't go down and it will go up, we will have more evacuees. So our focus now is to properly prepare the evacuation centers that are in permanent danger.
01:25Sir, so we expect that the number of evacuees in evacuation centers will increase.
01:32Yes. We expect that because it's ongoing. There are 15 barangays involved here. Based on our data, the target is 84,000 plus people should be evacuated.
01:48Based on yesterday's report, we are at 46 percent evacuated. Not all of them are going to evacuation centers. Some of them are going to their relatives who are far from the danger zone.
02:06We have people in evacuation centers and we also have people outside who are staying with their relatives or friends.
02:15Sir Rafi, what steps are being implemented and will be implemented in case the situation worsens?
02:22Yesterday, we had a meeting with the PNP, our law and order cluster, that should be implemented strictly.
02:32Not to enter the permanent danger zone, the 6-kilometer zone. The PNP has already indicated that. They will add more people and establish checkpoints.
02:44Of course, we need to audit or account that there should be no more people. We are giving them the advice of the task force yesterday so that they can complete the evacuation within one week.
03:03Okay sir. How is the distribution of assistance?
03:07Continuously, we assured the local government units that there are national agencies, DSWD, DOH, OCT, who are ready to help and provide augmentation to their needs.
03:21We are looking into that. The other day, Secretary Gatchaliang is already there. Secretary Chudoro is here almost every day.
03:29We are looking into the situation and making sure that the logistics that are needed will arrive. But rest assured, the national government is there to help and augment.
03:40That is also the order of our President, President Marcos, to ensure that we can provide all the assistance that the country needs.
03:53Thank you very much, Office of Civil Defense Assistant Secretary Rafi Alejandro.
