Albion were on a long unbeaten run but had also won once since the opening six games - but that all changed against Coventry.
Alex Mowatt's deflected effort put Albion ahead, and then after the Sky Blues missed a host of big chances, Karlan Grant beat three men before firing home into the bottom corner.
The win puts Albion back in the play-offs and has left the fan base delighted with the victory.

00:00baggage fans welcome to the Hawthorne's one to express another calm we're
00:11finally able to talk about will be in victory for the first time in what seems
00:15like a victory over Coventry probably didn't have to win on the balance of
00:21chances but who cares three points the run is the streak is over cuz you're
00:26back as well yeah I didn't say me but if that's what you want to put it down
00:29to but on a serious note Coxy we could do this video in two minutes because the
00:34only important thing tonight is the fact that I'll be we've got a win yeah yeah
00:37you've got somewhere to be yeah big big game with it big big night important to
00:44end the slump here of is it five about a winner before tonight going all the way
00:49back to Plymouth in September we know about ten drawers in it in 11 been hard
00:54going at times at times it was hard going tonight I thought Johnny to be
00:58honest we've had the press conference in there and and the word look and
01:03fortune has been thrown around a little bit I don't want to do too much of a
01:05disservice to Albion's performance the lights go out on us as usual and when
01:12Colin Grant slots in that there we go when Colin Grant slots in that second
01:1615 minutes from time Coventry were on top and they were dangerous and they
01:20forced saves from Palmer gone very close to an equalizer but it's Albion's day
01:26and it's a you know it doesn't really matter how you do it does it doesn't
01:29matter what the expected goals say you know that those expected goals from
01:32tonight won't wash over the course of the season but who cares the only stat
01:35that matters is Albion 2 Coventry 0 and yeah it's a nice feeling an important
01:40feeling back in the top six we don't really care about that it's too early
01:44but always nice to look at the table after a win
01:46starting to sound like a manager we're not looking at the table well we are
01:53we are we are and they're back in the top six the difference for me Coxy you
01:57know watching from afar on Sunday and today well you can see both goals today
02:03epitomized by Albion taking a risk having a go shooting from outside the box
02:07driving at players they just seem to be they're definitely more open because
02:11they've conceded a few chances well a few some good chances tonight and got
02:16fortunate but they're kind of making their own luck and just taking a few
02:22risks yeah well the 442 is more attack minded isn't it and within that you've
02:26got a left back who's very attack minded and Corbyn said in there look Coventry
02:30attacked well down there right Albion's left and Baggy Shaw to get to grips
02:35with it but yeah you're right I mean that wasn't a game full of Albion
02:38chances really was it was a good first 10 or 15 and then Corbyn said in there
02:42they couldn't quite find their way as an attacking unit after the most opening
02:47goal really but for me and I didn't say at the top there the night and almost a
02:54season I've just put out online belongs to Colin Grant you know what a moment
02:59what a goal just rejuvenated as a forward isn't he
03:03the goal typifies and sums up everything that's going well for him so far and
03:08it's just a forward full of confidence belief ability graft whatever you want
03:13to say lovely goal lovely moment and yeah I suppose in that moment Grant's
03:17took his moment stood up to be counted took a risk in trying to beat three men
03:22in one go and a fine fine finish and it was what an important stage of the game
03:27what an important final 15 minutes really I don't go to knee-jerk but in
03:31Albion's season you know they go from potentially being pegged back there a
03:34few inches away from Coventry equalising to a 2-0 much-needed victory
03:39yeah chance would you know might a little bit of a run now two games before
03:44Christmas tough on Sunday and Bristol City who are in fine form
03:47I'm beating in 12 time I'm sure Carlos won't be looking too far ahead but if
03:53Albion can kind of get a win in a draw now in the next couple of games it just sets
03:57them up really nicely it just changes it flips that whole atmosphere because
04:01things did start to kind of turn up at Preston and some people say you can kind
04:05of gauge the support from the away support but in the last couple of games
04:08Albion have pulled it around a bit and if they can get results in the next two
04:11heading into the festive period you know things are just looking a little
04:16bit more rough yeah the Sheffield performance on Sunday was really really
04:20bright really good all but a crazy sort of two five minutes first half they'd
04:25won that against the best side in the league so that felt like a real step
04:29forward and progress yes it was another draw but it felt like progress and here
04:32tonight maybe the performance levels weren't what they were against Sheffield
04:36United but different sides different challenges Albion always suit I find
04:41Carlos playing against strong strong teams different challenge tonight
04:45covering a decent moment really under Frank Lampard responded well that new
04:49manager bounce thing they looked a decent side tonight a lot better than
04:52wherever they are in the table 15th or whatever tough test on on
04:57Sunday isn't it Watford I mean Watford to me feel around where Albion are this
05:01season I feel like there won't be much between those two sides come the end of
05:05the season you know whether they're battling for fifth six it's a real rival
05:10isn't it on Sunday tricky to go down there but perhaps a good marker Sunday
05:14to know where Albion are if they can go and you know it wouldn't be a bad point
05:19there on Sunday would it but like you say you know four points back it up
05:23against Bristol City at home here that's gotta be the target players are tiring
05:27aren't they just very quickly Josh Madger coming off at halftime we all saw
05:31it he looked tired Corbyn agreed with that admit it is you know playing every
05:36game and did say I wanted to get John Swift on an extra sort of midfield body
05:41anyway and look magic not just tired and I thought so if work to be honest for
05:45is the best we've seen from him for some time he looked pretty decent so that's
05:49you know something to cling to in case the squad does need you know so Bartley
05:53rested for the first half tonight and Madger rested second half so it's
05:56catching up we wanted to these busy periods but that's the way it is in the
06:00champ I guess and players that come in you know Holgate started and he did okay
06:04Swift did fine when he came on Wallace looked pretty sharp when he came on more
06:08that's needed or that is needed but let's bask in the fact that Albion have
06:12won a game. Albion 2, Coventry 0, all the rest of your reaction you know where to go
