00:00I believe it was JT and one of his press availabilities this week that was talking about Scotty's
00:10greatness and also talking about Tiger and just said something along the lines of Tiger's
00:14approach, which was, you know, every shot you hit has to be the most important shot
00:19of your life.
00:20You know, you'd have to apply that sort of focus and competition to do hard to do.
00:24And nobody makes it to this level of golf without being insanely competitive.
00:29But I just love so many things about Scotty Shepherd.
00:31One of them is just these stories you hear about his level of competition, no matter
00:35what he's doing, or he's playing pick up basketball at LA Fitness or ping pong with Sam Burns
00:41or who are pickleball with you and Golden Tate, you know, it's like, the guy has to
00:46win every single, you know, point of every single competition he's he's playing in, and,
00:52you know, taken to his actual profession and this thing that he applies himself so diligently
00:56to in terms of, you know, details and, and I just think it's it's a guy like that is
01:01he has all the the ball striking this the technical skills, the intangibles, you get
01:07to you have a level of competition, you show up the one thing it's a weakness, and it's
01:10just he feels like, you know, again, he feels like it's as close to Tiger, as we're going
01:14to see, you know, for for the extended future.
01:17So it's, it's pretty, it's pretty wild.
01:20What we talked about, like, what's the what, what's in front of Scotty?
01:23So things that that come to mind, it's like, okay, how many masters can he win?
01:28Like, all these things start to come to mind, like, how many majors can Scotty win?
01:33Can he win a Grand Slam?
01:34And all of and when you talk about all of these things, then you start to, you know,
01:41play around with the idea of how Tiger used to schedule, you know, his schedule, it got
01:48tighter and tighter and tighter.
01:50And I think we're gonna start to see Scotty schedule, maybe get a little, little tighter,
01:57you know, probably much closer to maybe how Tiger's schedule used to be where it was,
02:02you know, WGC, he would play the invitationals and the majors, and he would get there a week
02:08early, make sure he's ready to go.
02:10And like, I think the US Open this year at Piner's like, that's, that to me, you would
02:18think would be a really good fit.
02:19But but also, you know, it was surprising when we had our friend on Keith Stewart, he's
02:25doing with this year, he was saying that it wasn't a good fit, because, well, it takes
02:29away his strength.
02:30But and I don't know, I, you see the opposite.
02:32I think that's, that's, I was gonna lead into that sort of look, like the one criticism,
02:39I think that if you want to make one of Scotty, is that he can be a little bit of a horse
02:43for a course, you know, he plays really, if he gets comfortable in a place like he has
02:47at Augusta National, like he has a number of other places, I disagree, I disagree with
02:52that.
02:53Well, I mean, and I'm not saying that that's factual, I'm just saying that that is something
02:55that's been said in terms of like, if you're looking at his track record, once he gets
02:59familiar with the place, he solves and he figures it out.
03:01He's almost unbeatable at that place.
03:03Okay.
03:04So see, I see that side of it, like, I'm talking upside, I don't think he's not a horse for
03:08a course guy.
03:09He is.
03:10I'm good wherever I play guy.
03:11100%.
03:12I'm just saying he is, he is less beatable, especially at a place like Augusta National,
03:18where he figures it out.
03:19There you go.
03:20Less beatable.
03:21That's the word.
03:22He's less beatable there than at a rotating venue sort of place.
03:26And I think he's point on Pioneerist this year was just that, because Scotty wasn't,
03:31he wasn't putting poorly at that point, but he wasn't putting as well as he is now.
03:35I think he made the putter change a couple of months prior to that.
03:39And so that specific setup was everyone had to hit the ball to the same place on the green.
03:45So it became in some ways a putting contest.
03:48And so it's like, if Scotty couldn't go after pins and hit it a little closer than everyone
03:52else and have makeable birdie opportunities, then of course, his, his superpower gets negated
03:58in some sort of way.
03:59And then, of course, he had a little bit of discomfort in places he ended up off the tee
04:02where there was a, you hit it in sort of those native areas, the grasses, it was a crapshoot
04:06with lies.
04:07So I guess I say all that, I say all that to say, maybe part of the way we chart out
04:12Scotty's career progression is looking at major venues for the U.S. Open for the PGA
04:18for the Open Championship and trying to decide whether some of these places are better fits
04:23for his game, better suited to the way he plays than others.
04:26And that really kind of maybe helps you say, how many does he end up?
04:29I hate to transition us off of Scotty because I think this has all been great, but all the
04:34things you just talked about, about majors this year and where we're going, dude, I think
04:40JT is going to pick off a major this year.
04:43Just think about the, just think about the venues.
