00:00Start my five minute clock, go ahead.
00:03Start the five minute clock.
00:04I really actually have one main thing that I want to say
00:07about the San Francisco Giants giving the largest contract
00:11in the history of their organization to Willie Adamas.
00:15There's a few things to say, but there's a headliner.
00:18And I wonder if you agree with me.
00:21We damn well know that the next order of business
00:25is a Blake Snell replacement.
00:27The Giants are after a frontline starter.
00:30We have seen them tied to Corbin Burns.
00:32That's been reported in multiple places.
00:34I have seen them tied to Max Freed.
00:37I have seen them tied to Roki Sasaki,
00:40who was just posted earlier today or yesterday.
00:43So that'll go into January, but that process is underway.
00:48Because of the Adamas signing
00:51and because Buster Posey is now at the wheel,
00:54what's your confidence level that they are going to land
00:59a frontline starter to go along with Willie Adamas?
01:04Strangely, after everything we've been through
01:07the last five years, my confidence is through the roof.
01:12Like I absolutely 100% expect
01:17that one of those three pitchers will be a Giant.
01:20Corbin Burns, Max Freed, or Sasaki after being posted.
01:26That's, the Adamas signing is great for who he is
01:30and what he is, and 29 years old
01:33and now holding down the shortstop position.
01:35That's wonderful.
01:37The best part about it for me is it throws,
01:41as a Giants fan, throws my confidence through the roof
01:44that they're gonna get the next order of business
01:46done correctly as well.
01:48That's good, that was two minutes, impressive.
01:53Well, like the five minutes was supposed to include you too.
01:55Well, normally it's, you know.
01:56Were you gonna go to the bathroom or something like that?
01:58No, I've got lots to say,
01:59but normally in a five minute construct,
02:01you would do 415 or 430 of it,
02:04and then I'd come in with, hey, you know, good one.
02:06Yeah.
02:07Couple of those.
02:08We could do that.
02:09I do also think that who Willie Adamas is as a person
02:12is a significant maneuver culturally,
02:15because you mentioned Blake Snell,
02:17and I soured on Blake Snell when he skipped his last start,
02:21and I have a feeling that the organization did as well.
02:24When Buster Posey, you know, saw that,
02:26a guy, Buster, who was always a gamer,
02:29and Snell took a pass on the last start,
02:32yeah, I'm good, this game means nothing,
02:35so I don't wanna go out there and pitch.
02:36That, to me, sent a bad sign to the organization.
02:40Willie Adamas is a very beloved player
02:42in Major League Baseball.
02:44He's a good shortstop, and a guy with a big bat,
02:47and, you know, every player that you talk to
02:49or you hear about who's played with Willie
02:51has nothing but great things to say about Willie Adamas,
02:55and then there's the other more basic part of it.
02:58His name's Willie, and Willies have done pretty well here,
03:01and I'm thinking about McCovey, Mays, McGee,
03:05such Willies who, as Giants.
03:07Did you really just do that?
03:09Will McGee.
03:10Mays, McCovey, McGee.
03:11He's a Bay Area guy.
03:12He deserves to be Willied in there.
03:15He's a very good player.
03:16He's a very good player.
03:17He does not have a cull over a statue,
03:18but, anyway, go ahead.
03:19He probably should.
03:20No, he shouldn't.
03:21Mays, McCovey, McGee, Adamas, the Willies.
03:25They're giving me the Willies, Mark.
03:26Yeah.
03:28I think you're right.
03:29And I think you're right about the confidence feeling
03:32because Buster did this right.
03:35He didn't flirt with the idea of Soto,
03:37we're gonna be in on Juan Soto.
03:40Not that Farhan ever, you know, made those promises
03:43that fans thought he did,
03:44but the very idea of trying to swim in those waters,
03:48I think that Buster was thinking about it
03:51in a different way.
03:52Like, go out and chase Juan Soto, everyone.
03:55I'm gonna be working on Adamas.
03:56He also, I think, this is what I've heard.
04:00This is an organizational deal now.
04:05Me?
04:06Stop talking about what we're gonna do.
04:07Right.
04:08No more.
04:09That was right off the top.
04:11Even all the way down to Bomell.
04:13Remember when Bomell was like,
04:14it's exciting that we're gonna be shopping
04:15at the top of the market.
04:17You didn't hear that this time.
04:18Yeah.
04:19But boom.
04:21Winter meetings start, we've got our shortstop.
04:24Yeah.
04:25I just, I think it is truly a brand new day.
04:28And I think that the Giants, like Corbin Burns,
04:31who is from California, I love their chances to get him.
04:35I love their chances to get him.
04:36He'd be perfect.
04:37He'd be fantastic.
04:38And these are clubhouse guys, to your point.
04:41You are not gonna see any more,
04:43let's go ahead and put a name on it.
04:45We're not gonna see Jock Peterson in this building anymore.
04:48You're not gonna see Blake Snells in here anymore.
04:51People who beg out of games, play cards,
04:53don't come in at the right weight,
04:56don't come in in shape, get hurt,
04:58and then think only about themselves
05:00instead of get back on the field.
05:01All of that stuff.
05:02Yeah.
05:04No more of that.
05:05You are not welcome here.
05:06And the Matt Chapmans of the world,
05:09you're gonna get extended.
05:11Because you are awesome.
05:12You are awesome as a role model,
05:14you're awesome as a leader,
05:15and you're awesome as a player.
05:17That's it.
05:18We value you.
05:19The left side of the infield for the Giants
05:20is now set up for years to come.
05:24By two total pros.
05:26Yeah.
05:27That's awesome.
05:28Pretty exciting.
05:28It's awesome.
05:29Now you can get one, if not two, starting pitchers
05:32and maybe address first base,
05:34or there's some things you can do with some trades,
05:37because it feels like you have maybe too many outfielders.
05:41I don't know, too many outfielders?
05:44Depends.
05:45I mean, depends on if you get Luciano to come up
05:48and actually be a player.
05:49Nah, I don't think Luciano
05:51is even one of the key pieces anymore.
05:53You got Jung-Hoo Lee, you got Elliott Ramos,
05:57you do have some young guys.
05:58Grant McCready.
05:59You got Matos and Yaz.
06:00You have Matos and Yaz.
06:02I think there could be more pieces out there,
06:04but I don't think they'll spend a lot of money on it.
06:06And you think you don't address first base
06:08thinking that Bryce Eldridge could be?
06:10This year?
06:11No, but I think you do short-term.
06:13Like, you could go find,
06:14I don't think it's gonna be Pete Alonzo.
06:16Pete Alonzo's a little bit of an odd dude
06:18and not a great defensive player.
06:20I love the bat, but I don't think that feels
06:22like a buster kind of a guy.
06:24But, I don't know, man, is there a Goldschmidt
06:27or a Christian Walker on a short-term deal
06:30to come in, bop some homers,
06:32and get ready for the Bryce Eldridge era?
06:34Maybe, that's kind of what I could see happening.
06:37And I could see Lamont Wade being involved in a deal.
06:40It was interesting today that Buster Posey,
06:41without being asked, said,
06:44I am not looking to trade Camilo Duval.
06:46Without being asked, he brought that up.
06:49Which means one of two things.
06:50Either he is not trading Camilo Duval,
06:53or it means he is flatly trying to trade Camilo Duval
06:57by letting everybody know,
06:59you ain't gonna half-step in here and get Camilo Duval.
07:01You're gonna have to bring a real offer
07:03if you want to do this.
