00:00President Ferdinand R. Marquez, Jr. signed into law the Basic Education Mental Health and Well-Being Promotion Act today.
00:07The law aims to create programs that will help the mental health of children who are in the elementary and secondary levels.
00:15Under the said measure, care centers will be established in schools.
00:204,600 Pentelia positions will be opened to ensure there are school counselors who will be able to give free counseling,
00:30provide stress management, and lessen the effects of stigma to the mental health of learners.
00:37When our learners and school personnel are mentally healthy, academic performance improves,
00:44absenteeism decreases, and a culture of compassion and understanding flourishes.
00:50Beyond being a safeguard to our youth and school personnel,
00:54this law is also an investment in the intellectual, emotional, and social future and development of our nation.
