00:00I'll see you next week.
00:03Alexa, it's the time of the year where a lot of the tracks have changed.
00:06Tampa Bay Downs has opened up.
00:07We haven't had the chance to talk about them a whole heck of a lot, but this week they
00:11have the inaugural stakes and the Sandpiper stakes.
00:14They're stakes for two-year-olds that are sprinting, so we may get to see some of these
00:18horses in big races next year.
00:20I thought it would be fun to take a little peek over and we take a look at Naughty Rascal.
00:24He's naughty.
00:25He's a naughty one, that little pet.
00:26I thought he's kind of interesting, but talk to us about who are some of the horses that
00:30stand out to you in this one.
00:32Yeah, I really like Naughty Rascal a lot.
00:34He's been out four times, won three of them, including two stakes races.
00:37Most experienced winner in here.
00:40Is one in the slop going short, going long on the turf, so he's just a very versatile,
00:45capable horse.
00:46There's a lot of notes about him also being bumped in his past races, so it shows us that
00:50he's got some real grit to perform so well.
00:53Another one is Donut God.
00:56I'm a glazed crumb guy.
00:57How about for you?
00:58Donut, are you talking?
00:59I'm a glazed gal.
01:00Okay, there we go.
01:01I will say.
01:02Krispy Kreme all the way.
01:03Beautiful, beautiful.
01:04But, you know, this horse is going to be the favorite, and you just can't really argue
01:08with him.
01:09He's been out once in Wire the Field with a faster speed figure than anyone's ever run
01:13in all their starts combined, and Time for Meals does predict it again, so, you know,
01:17he's an experience, but at this short price, too, it's not one I want to just lock in on
01:22because there's some other capable ones in here, and he has only been out once.
01:26So, Krispy Kreme, if you're hearing that, we're open for a sponsorship deal if you want
01:29to work on some advertising right here with us and Alexa.
01:32Tampa Bay Downs, race number six, the inaugural.
01:34You thought Mr. Squeaky Wheels could be an interesting price.
01:37I do think Mr. Squeaky Wheels is an interesting price, and another fun name, Lifetime Best
01:41was going short on the dirt.
01:43Then they put him on synthetic and turf and stretched him out, so, you know, I could see
01:46him improving, kind of coming back to the surface and a shorter distance, and he's got
01:50a really fast workout.
01:51Yeah, I'm with you on Naughty Rascal.
01:53I think on the cutback, we'll have more punch.
01:55This is a stakes winner going sprinting on the dirt and going long on the turf, like
01:59super versatile for that one.
02:02Let's move to race number eight.
02:03This is the Sandpiper Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs.
02:07These are the fillies, the two-year-olds going six furlongs.
02:10We just talked about the boys.
02:11These are the gals, and one of the gals in here that I think deserves top billing or
02:16billing towards the top is Paradise City, who was very good in her career debut, Alexa,
02:22and then she went a little bit longer in her second start, so we can have a legitimate
02:26excuse for her.
02:27Maybe she just didn't want to go all that far, and now she gets to cut back to a sprint.
02:30I agree.
02:31I think that race was just a bit too long, and now they're cutting her back again, so
02:34time from U.S. also gives her that late pace flag in the race.
02:39Others to look at in here, Dancing Magic faced some really nice company as of late.
02:43The number six horse, she's behind horses like Echo Sound and Eclatant, the horses that
02:48we've seen running over in stakes races at Churchill Downs.
02:51She's been in really nice form.
02:52I was joking with you before, Alexa, I always love horses that have the one name, like Andrea
02:57to the outside.
02:58Just makes me laugh.
02:59Hey, Andrea, you going to run a great race today?
03:01Maybe.
03:02We'll see.
03:03I don't know, Jim.
03:04What about you?
03:05Who knows?
03:06So, Andrea to the outside, another major player in here.
03:08Give us some quick thoughts on the Sandpiper.
03:10Yeah, you see the pace projector at the end.
03:12It really thinks the six and the nine are going to be right there, and I really like
03:15Andrea.
03:16Been out three times, won the first two, including Hollandale Beach Stakes, where she wired the
03:20field and won by almost eight lengths.
03:22I think if she does get the lead, she has a really big chance at wiring this field here.
03:27There's not an overwhelming amount of pace pressure in here, and she does get that outside
03:30post, but at this track, for this distance, they start right at the end of that clubhouse
03:36turn, so she has the entire backstretch to kind of get in position.
03:40What's amazing with technology, Alexa, we're going to go from Florida.
03:43We're going to jump in the car, and within about five seconds, we're going to head all
03:46the way over to Los Alamitos.
03:48We're going to be in Orange County in California, and we're going to jump to the Los Al starlet
03:53for two-year-old Phillies, going a mile and a sixteenth in here.
03:56The last edition of the Los Al starlet, this race, was actually at Hollywood Park.
03:59It used to be run there.
04:00I actually interviewed Bob Baffert post-race when he won that race with streaming.
04:05He's actually won seven in a row of these races, ten overall.
04:10He's trying to win his eighth straight.
04:11He has three horses in here, but they're all going to have to work in order to beat this
04:16one.
04:17I like Vodka with a Twist.
04:18This was a price play that you and I liked in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Phillies.
04:22She ran a great race when she finished second that day.
04:24Yeah, I really like Vodka with a Twist.
04:26Absolutely the class of the field.
04:28You know, she's been running against Tupper, like you said, and just missing, so this should
04:32be a really good spot for her to get back into the winner's circle.
04:35It makes me feel old when that race I interviewed Bob Baffert was 2013.
04:39It's like, wow, that was already like 11 years ago.
04:42I'm getting the greys coming in right now.
04:45Look Forward is a player in here.
04:46Tenma could get a setup, but anything else you want to mention about the Starlet?
04:51You know, really just Look Forward is the other one I like to keep an eye on in here.
04:54Maybe Noonie, who kind of ran a bad effort out in the Breeders' Cup, but I think could
04:59be, could do something coming back here, but mainly Look Forward and Vodka.
05:04And that was actually the final winner for trainer Ben Cecil, who recently passed away
05:08some very sad news and moves into another barn.
05:11So
