00:02joined the Tree Planting and Solid Waste Recovery Activity in San Mateo, Rizal today.

00:13Today, the Laguna Lake Development Authority
00:16and the Presidential Communications Office
00:19of the Tree Planting and Solid Waste Recovery in San Mateo, Rizal
00:23joined hands for the Laguna de Bay Mission in Action,
00:27which was also led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources,
00:31National Solid Waste Management Commission,
00:34Local Government of Rizal, and the private sector.
00:37150 pieces of bamboo and 150 seedlings
00:42of fruit-bearing trees such as jackfruit, chestnuts, guava, coffee,
00:46santol, vinegar, and others were planted in the activity today.
00:50Aside from tree planting,
00:52a solid waste recovery was also carried out around the Ampid River,
00:55which is one of the tributaries of the Laguna de Bay.
00:58According to LLDA Acting General Manager Sinando San Diago,
01:02this is the 17th Tree Planting and Waste Recovery Activity
01:06carried out by the LLDA this year.
01:09They are collecting up to 8 tons of garbage
01:12from the waterways since they started the activity.
01:16And this will serve also as a climate change adaptation measure.
01:21But I am looking at it also from the point of view of possible livelihood project
01:30for the local government constituents.
01:34For PCO Director Robertson Ramirez,
01:37this is the third time that PCO has intervened in the activities of the LLDA.
01:43This one has an important cost for the environment
01:47because we know that over the past few weeks,
01:51there has been a severe typhoon,
01:53and the impact of the typhoon on the environment.
01:55So I guess it's about time
01:57that we do something for the environment.
02:00For San Mateo Rizal Mayor Bartolome Rivera Jr.,
02:03it is important for the people of San Mateo to have this activity.

02:14are working together to protect the environment.
