00:00Some groups and agencies of the government in San Mateo, Rizal are one of the Tree Planting and Solid Waste Recovery Activity.
00:07The Pledge of Dedication for those involved in the activity was fulfilled.
00:10Gab Villegas is in the center of the news.
00:15Today, the Laguna Lake Development Authority and the Presidential Communications Office
00:21of the Tree Planting and Solid Waste Recovery in San Mateo, Rizal,
00:25Abot Kamay, for Laguna de Bay, Mission in Action is the title of the activity
00:29which was conducted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources,
00:33National Solid Waste Management Commission, Local Government of Rizal, and the private sector.
00:39150 pieces of bamboo and 150 seedlings of fruit-bearing trees such as
00:45jackfruit, chestnuts, guava, coffee, santol, vinegar, and others were planted by those involved in the activity today.
00:53Aside from tree planting, solid waste recovery was also conducted around the Ampid River,
00:58which is one of the tributaries of Laguna de Bay.
01:01According to LLDA Acting General Manager, Sinando Santiago,
01:05this is the 17th Tree Planting and Waste Recovery Activity conducted by the LLDA this year.
01:11They are collecting up to 8 tons of garbage from streams of water since they started the activity.
01:18And this will serve also as a climate change adaptation measure.
01:23But I am looking at it also from the point of view of possible livelihood project for the local government constituents.
01:36For PCO Director, Robertson Ramirez, this is the third time that the PCO participated in the activities of the LLDA.
01:45This one has an important cost for the environment.
01:49Because we know that over the past few weeks, there was a typhoon and the effects of it on the environment.
01:57So I guess it's about time for us to do something for the environment.
02:02For San Mateo Rizal Mayor, Bartolome Rivera Jr., it is important for San Mateo residents to have this activity.
02:10So they can see that the government and the national government are serious and persecuting the environment.
02:22Aside from the activities conducted by the PCO,
02:27your national television, PTV and other attached agencies under the Presidential Communications Office
02:35such as the IBC-13, Apo Production Unit, National Printing Office and Radio Television Malacanang.
02:41All activities were conducted in pledge of dedication
02:45as part of the effort to improve the quality of water in the Laguna de Bay waterway.
02:51The trees and trees planted in the tree planting activity of the LLDA and PCO
02:57will not only help fight the effects of climate change,
03:01it will also help give life to those living near the Ampid River.
