00:00As the Minister responsible for Energy Transition and Water Transformation,
00:15I have been rather impressed by China's efforts in advancing its energy transition
00:21within the framework of its new economic development.
00:26According to the International Energy Agency, or IEA, China has achieved significant milestones,
00:33with renewable energy capacity expanding at an approximate annual rate of 12%
00:40and the number of electric vehicles on the road growing by roughly 20% each year.
00:47These efforts offer Malaysia a chance to learn and adopt best practices
00:53for a fair and equitable energy transition, aligning with the National Energy Transition Roadmap.
01:00In fact, during our Prime Minister's visit to China in June this year,
01:08to commensurate 50 years of bilateral diplomatic ties between Malaysia and China,
01:15clean and renewable energy were among the areas of cooperation identified in the 14 bilateral MOUs signed.
01:24Therefore, I see vast openings and opportunities for our energy players
01:30to explore new technological advancement and innovative solutions.
01:36This strategic collaboration and partnership present vast opportunities for our energy sector
01:43to leverage technological advancements from China to drive sustainable energy sector growth in Malaysia.
01:52Ladies and gentlemen, another cornerstone of our partnership lies in education.
01:58Under Malaysia's MADANI framework, we have sent hundreds of students to China to pursue world-class education,
02:06especially in technical and vocational training, or TVET.
02:11Just recently, 200 Malaysian students were given the opportunity to gain expertise in cutting-edge fields
02:19such as artificial intelligence and cyber security.
02:24Additionally, the establishment of Zerman University, first overseas campus in Malaysia,
02:30marks a new chapter in educational collaboration.
02:33Offering courses in English, this initiative provides Malaysian students greater access
02:40to quality education while fostering deeper cultural and academic ties.
02:47As we look to the future, the partnerships between Malaysia and China will continue to evolve.
02:54I foresee that emerging sectors such as green technology, digital innovation,
03:01and sustainable development shall become areas of focus.
03:05Trade liberalisation and economic globalisation will be key drivers in this evolution.
03:14China's increasing technological adoption, particularly in areas like artificial intelligence,
03:22blockchain and the Internet of Things, set a precedent that Malaysia can follow
03:27to enhance its own technical landscape.
03:31Our strategic collaboration with China will enable us to leverage their technological advancement
03:37to drive sustainable growth in Malaysia.
03:40These partnerships will also promote trade liberalisation,
03:44allowing both nations to benefit from shared innovations and economic opportunities.
03:52These efforts align closely with this year's WAPC theme,
03:58Promote trade liberalisation and advance economic globalisation.
04:04By embracing sustainability and technological innovation,
04:09we can navigate the complexities of global economy
04:13and build a resilient and equitable future for all.
04:18To Deputy Prime Minister Dato' Sri Manila,
04:20let us together witness this great moment,
04:22marking the 15th anniversary of Malaysia-China Economic Relations
04:27and the first ever hosting of the World Exposition President's Conference in Kuala Lumpur.
