Chelsea v Aston Villa - Matt Maher match preview
Transcript
00:00Good afternoon from Boddymore Heath where Unai Emery has held his press conference ahead of Sunday's trip to Chelsea.
00:09Villa boss not showing too many signs of panic despite a seven match winless run which has rather halted the momentum in Villa's season.
00:18Of course it was only a few weeks ago we were talking about this being the best start to a Premier League season for a quarter of a century.
00:25Ever since Villa conceded a last kick equaliser against Bournemouth they haven't been able to get over the line in any games.
00:34Four Premier League games without a win, two Champions League games without a win and of course they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup.
00:42But definitely a sense of that seven game run, Wednesday's 0-0 draw with Juventus was probably their best result and arguably their best performance despite not creating too many goalscoring chances.
00:55Perhaps one of the reasons for that was the performance of Boubacar Kamara in midfield.
01:00The French midfielder who spent eight months out with a serious knee injury before returning last month and there's every chance it seems he will get his first Premier League start of the season on Sunday.
01:11That's certainly what Uno Emery was heavily hinting at in his press conference.
01:16Villa are due to train on Saturday, of course the game's not until Sunday lunchtime and I think if Kamara comes through that then there's a good chance he will be involved from the start.
01:25Emery also hoping to have Amadou Anana back available, he's been missing with a foot injury since the international break.
01:34Jacob Ramsey still out with injury but Villa by and large getting these players back now.
01:42They've won at Chelsea the last two seasons, a 2-0 win a couple of seasons ago as they were racing towards Europe and the Europa Conference League and then a 1-0 win early last season which really set the tone for the campaign to come.
02:01Chelsea are a much tougher proposition this time around than the teams they've faced in the last two years but something has to kick start this Villa season and you just never know on Sunday.
