00:00Komelec's 2nd Division has filed a petition to disqualify former congressman Edgar Erice.

00:07Komelec Chair George Erwin Garcia has been inhibited from hearing the petition.

00:12Luis Erice is in the center of the news.

00:17Now that the Commission on Elections is cleaning the list of candidates for the 2025 election,

00:23some are already sampling Komelec's disqualified candidates in the local opposition.

00:29One of them is former congressman Edgar Erice, who runs as a congressman in the 2nd District of Caloocan City.

00:36Erice is known for questioning Komelec's contract for the rent of new automated counting machines from Miru Systems Company Ltd.

00:45That's why Erice's return may have been disqualified because of the Commission's wishful thinking.

00:53The real reason why they are disqualifying me is, I think this is a disqualification because of their irritation to my persistence.

01:06It's my constitutional right to criticize if I know that the one thing that I was paid as a poor Filipino

01:18who pays the police is wrong and can be a source of confusion in a proper election.

01:26Despite Erice's panic, their reason for disqualifying him is wrong.

01:31He is also looking for the possible connection of his opponent to the leadership of Komelec.

01:38We know that they are mad at me.

01:40So, you know what the conclusion will be.

01:43My hope is the Supreme Court.

01:52But based on the resolution of the 2nd Division of the Commission on Elections,

01:56Erice was disqualified because of spreading false news about the election and starting a confusion among the voters.

02:05This is clearly a violation of Section 261 of the Omnibus Election Code.

02:10The statements regarding the resolution were made by Erice,

02:15saying that the Philippines will be penalized for the upcoming election,

02:19that Komelec and Miru's contract is a scam,

02:22and that Komelec has an offshore account where they were paid, and more.

02:28On the issue of Erice's invitation to Komelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia to his opponent,

02:33along with the resolution, Chairman Garcia also issued an inhibition or a document that he will not be aware of

02:40regarding the hearing or issuing of the decision of Komelec and Bank regarding Erice's disqualification case.

02:45The reason is simple.

02:47He did not want the decision of NBank to be released as a bias because of Erice's petitions against him.

02:54Because the resolution was released in the 2nd Division,

02:58Erice had a chance to appeal before the decision of NBank was issued.

03:03Even if her appeal is still trashed, Erice will sleep in the Supreme Court.

03:08Meanwhile, aside from Erice, Komelec is also expecting to resolve other disqualification cases for local candidates

03:17because on December 13, Komelec targeted the list of candidates for national and local elections.
