00:00Gator, I think the Detroit Lions should sign Daniel Jones.
00:04I think the Detroit Lions are about the business this year of trying to win the Super Bowl.
00:12And Daniel Jones has become a punching bag, he's become a punchline, he's become a joke.
00:19Jordan Schultz, the Fox Insider, said there's significant interest in Daniel Jones out there.
00:25He expected the Ravens, Vikings, Lions, 49ers, and Dolphins to all pursue him.
00:32According to Adam Schefter, he said look for Baltimore and Minnesota to go after him.
00:39Daniel Jones would come to Detroit and be a veteran backup.
00:43And it comes down to the answer to this question.
00:47If the Lions have to win a home playoff game against Atlanta on a Sunday, who would you
00:53rather have starting a quarterback, Daniel Jones or Hendon Hooker?
00:59And based upon the information available to us, it would be Daniel Jones for me.
01:05And I was reading Kevin O'Connell's comments about how much they really liked Daniel Jones
01:09when he was coming out and he visited and he met with teams.
01:14And for the Lions it would probably come down to that, you know, how much familiarity do
01:18they have with him as a person, would he fit?
01:21But I would take a veteran quarterback who started two playoff games and went 24th for
01:2535 and threw for over 300 yards, two touchdowns and no picks on the road and beat a 13 and
01:314 Minnesota team versus a guy who has 33 career snaps and nine pass attempts.
01:36And I know that Daniel Jones is a punchline.
01:38I know that Daniel Jones has been beat up publicly.
01:42But think about that.
01:44If you had to win a playoff game on a Sunday and your choices were an extraordinarily inexperienced
01:51Hendon Hooker or Daniel Jones, who's more likely to give you that win?
01:57And to me, the answer would be Daniel Jones to the Lions and the answer might be different.
02:03And I've experienced this because, you know, I've been to Michigan practice and seen stuff
02:07at practice that makes their decisions on the field seem more obvious.
02:12In Lions practice, they might all caps love what they're seeing from Hendon Hooker.
02:19Now the question you come up with is just because he did in practice doesn't mean he
02:22can do it in the games, but they might have a different opinion of Hendon Hooker than
02:26what we have because to us, to me at least, Hendon Hooker is a complete and total unknown
02:30at this juncture.
02:31I like him as a prospect.
02:32I think there's reason to be moderately encouraged, but it's such very, very little.
02:42So anyway, I'd pursue Daniel Jones and I'd somewhat aggressively pursue Daniel Jones.
02:47Yeah, I would not, not even come close to him.
02:50I would avoid him at all costs.
02:51I think he's proven what he is.
02:53He's a bad quarterback in the NFL, period.
02:56And great, he's got two games of playoff experience that he had and, you know, split those games.
03:04They had the one nice game against the Vikings, but he still is what he is.
03:07He's a career 84 rated quarterback.
03:10That's terrible in today's NFL.
03:13I would rather have the guy who has been here for two, for almost two seasons now as an
03:18apprentice who knows the offense at this point, who's actually worked with these players than
03:23to bring in somebody completely new who wasn't able to run the offense that he was in prior.
03:28So why would I want to bring him in here?
03:29Just because he's a veteran and that's, it's not good enough for me.
03:33If he was a good veteran, I'd consider it, but he's not.
03:36He's a bad player and I don't want him anywhere near this team.
03:40I think a player like Daniel Jones would look a lot different behind the Detroit Lions
03:44offensive line.
03:45I think a player like Daniel Jones would look a lot different throwing to Lions receivers.
03:50I think a player like Daniel Jones would look a lot different with this Lions offense coordinator
03:55and rushing attack.
03:56Now, his skill set, does it match up with what Ben Johnson would actually covet?
04:02I'm not sure about that.
04:04But again, it doesn't come back to what he's been.
04:08But to me, it's who gives you a better shot to win if in an emergency break glass situation.
04:14And if you bring Daniel Jones in now, that emergency break glass situation is the postseason.
04:20Yeah, no, again, for me, it's, it's, it's hooker because he, I understand what you're
04:25saying, but I want the guy who's actually worked with this offense and hooker has worked
04:29with this offense and the experience, he wasn't a ton that he got in the preseason, but you
04:35saw a little bit that you liked in the preseason.
04:38He gets thrown into the situation at the end of the game and the end of a laugher,
04:41he doesn't look out of place, looks comfortable back there.
04:43I got it.
04:44It's, you know, it's in mop up time.
04:46I don't care.
04:47I think he's, he's got the talent.
04:49I think he's got confidence and I'd rather see him run this ship than to see Daniel Jones
04:55do it.
04:56Daniel Jones had the best running back in football and they couldn't do anything.
04:58He's had, you know, one season where he threw for 3,200 yards in that playoff year where
05:04they were nine, six and one, he threw for 3,200 yards and only 15 touchdown passes.
05:11It's he's not a good quarterback.
05:13Well, to say he couldn't do anything is, you know, he led a team to the playoffs and won
05:18a playoff game, which is more than Hendon hooker has, but two, four, eight, five, three,
05:23nine, 97, 97.
