00:00John victory Friday. How's that sound to you? Oh my goodness. What an unbelievable, unbelievable
00:07game. And I mean, expectations, hopes, dreams. I don't care what terms you use. Cause those
00:15are the ones that we talked about the last couple of days. Do you expect to win? Do you
00:19hope to win? Are you dreaming it to win? And they all came up. Yes.
00:27Ali McNeil went down in that game. So the defense that was already depleted was a phone
00:33call away from you playing and they won the game anyway. And that's what we talked about.
00:37They had to be led by their offense. Yeah. Four of five on fourth down. I'm sure we're
00:41going to talk a lot about those fourth down decisions today. But Campbell said, I got
00:46to win with my offense. And he, to his credit stuck to him. Those are one yard, two yard.
00:52You've got this offense. You're going to go for it. You're going to win the game. And
00:55John, they've won a lot of games. They've won 12 games, 11 in a row. And they've clinched
01:00a playoff spot three weeks before Christmas. I mean, it's, it's unbelievable what this
01:05football team is able to do. Short-handed big spot, tough opponent, find a way to win
01:10back to back 12 win seasons. And I think the biggest thing is, is we all know what this
01:16means for not just the division. You've eliminated the Packers from the division race. Now it
01:20is solely focused on the Minnesota Vikings. And if it comes down to it, you get them the
01:26last game of the year. Bring it on. I agree. It's in Ford field, Ford field last night.
01:31And I want to hear from Heather because it looked on TV like it was unbelievable. So
01:37Colin finally talked you into it. Eh? Well, yeah. I mean, I told you at the end of the
01:41show, he texted me. It was like, dude, I'm fired up again. We got to go. So we worked
01:45out a babysitter. Grandma came through, got tickets. It was kind of like, grandma might
01:51be the MVP. Magical. Like it was a freaking awesome game. It was so much fun that I'm
02:01so excited to hear more about it because it looked like it on TV. Yeah. Um, but the, it
02:10just every there, I mean, and, and obviously everything didn't go right for, for the lions
02:16golf through a pick. They, they, they didn't get one of the fourth downs in their own territory.
02:20Yeah. But how would Tim Patrick, the old guy, you know what we're calling him? Timmy P Timmy
02:26P Timmy P out of nowhere. What about cheap pain? T-pain? It's already taken. Yeah. He
02:34hadn't caught a touchdown since 2021. He caught two. I know in the biggest game of the season
02:38to date called Timmy P. Sure. Yeah. It just was, it was so much fun to watch and, and
02:45I kind of went through the same angst that you just mentioned, right? Aleem McNeil goes
02:49down and I was at a Ruby's basketball game watching it. Um, and you know, trying to keep
02:53score at the same time. And then after the game, I'm, I'm, we're watching it on, on somebody's
02:59phone and Aleem McNeil was walking off the field. I was like, Oh my goodness, this is,
03:03how is this possible? Like, how is it possible? And, and then they said head injury. And I
03:10thought, Oh no, I mean, it's, it, you know, protocol. Apparently it's not concussion related.
03:16It is some other type of, of head injury. I don't know if it's a, if it's a, it's a wound
03:20to cut, uh, I don't know, but at least we know it's not, he's not in the protocol. So
03:26it's there, there's, there could be some more definitive results from other tests or results,
03:32you know, whatever to get him back on the field for the bills. That's a problem or a
03:36discussion in 10 days or over the next 10 days, the defense, I thought this was under
03:44a hundred yards rushing. I know it was three rushing touchdowns for, for, for Jacobs, but
03:52I thought the defense stood up and did everything they had to do with, I mean, we, we go from
04:00whatever we were calling the defense before to now it's no name defense. We're talking
04:04about guys. We, we, you didn't even know we're on the roster yesterday. I said a couple of
04:07names. You're like, huh? Wait a second. I thought you were testing me. Like, can I slip
04:10a name in there? That's not a real person. It's unbelievable. But Pat, I'm at risk starting
04:14at defensive tack. Yeah, exactly. Right. Ryan Valade is going to make a key tackle late
04:20in the game. No, it was a Zeke Turner, right? Like who Zeke turned Pat O'Connor. People
04:26know about him because he's Eastern Michigan guy and he played really well in the interior,
04:29but Pat O'Connor is not a, he shouldn't be on a too deep for a playoff team, but there
04:32he is making plays for this team. And it's the next man up mentality on steroids last
04:37night. I don't think the defense was anything special, but they got a key stop in the red
04:41zone late and John, you got to have someone pick you up. If you don't have your best on
04:45defense and you're just doing enough, you're going to need the offense to lead the way.
04:49And they did late in that game, time and time again. Like I thought the Packers first touchdown
04:53drive was kind of a woe moment. It was a 12 play drive, seven minutes, 10 of the 12
05:00plays were on the ground. They score a touchdown. It makes it 10 to seven. You go, okay, we're
05:03going to see what they're made of. You know what Detroit did? They marched right down
05:06the field and scored right before the half. So like they consistently rallied, even when
05:11golf through that interception, his very next drive, march them down the field and into
05:15the end zone.
05:16The Lions go ball at the end of the game, it's tied. You got to go win it. And they
05:19did. And it's everything we had talked about. You're about to win different ways. Some,
05:23some weeks they've won with defense. Some weeks they've won with special teams. Some
05:26weeks you got to win with the number one offense in football. And John, that's what won them
05:29the game last night was his offense. And for anybody who wants to go, I didn't like some
05:33of Dan Campbell's decisions. You don't win the game unless he does all of them. Right,
05:37right. Two touchdowns were fourth down calls in the red zone.
05:40We're talking inside of three yards. You're playing to win the football game. He's not
05:44playing to put his defense out there. He's playing to win with his offense and the fourth
05:48down at, at his own 31. I think that was the first game that the first play of the game
05:53where people might've gone home. No. Is Dan going too far? John, it's a yard. Maybe you
05:58don't like the play call going outside, but they showed everybody was mugged up around
06:03the centers and the guards. There was no word of QB sneak it. So they, they decide to attack
06:06the edges. They got swarmed. They lose the, the, the conversion.
06:11But at the end of the game, the other fourth down where you could just kick the field goal,
06:1440 seconds to go. And he's like, I'm not leaving Jordan love a chance to beat me. Right. I'm
06:18winning the game. It's it's inches. I got David Montgomery. I'm winning the football
06:23game. I'm not playing to give them a chance. And if you were listening to the broadcast
06:27at that time, it was Kirk Herbst re doing, he was old school mindset, right? Not Dan
06:33Campbell's, you know, Dan Gamble, whatever you want to call him, go for it on fourth
06:38down every single time, fourth and short it was, you know, they, they call the time out
06:44and well, they're obviously going to kick it.
06:47And, and, and he went from, they're obviously going to kick it to the offense, stays on
06:50the field. And it was, Oh, they're going to try and draw them off sides. They'll let
06:54the clock drain down. They'll draw, they'll try and draw them off sides. If not, they'll
06:58call time out and kick it like that. That was the old school mentality. And then they,
07:04they step the ball and Glasgow steps on golf's foot and he is going down, reaches the ball
07:15out to David Montgomery.
07:18And I think the key block, we could talk about the, obviously you're going to run it behind
07:21Penny. So everybody in the world knows where that ball is going, but it was Sam LaPorta
07:26coming in motion to give him the best angle to get inside because you had, you know, Zytler
07:35and Penny Sewell double team in the three technique, but that I thought it was great
07:39place set up to give Sam LaPorta the best available angle.
07:44And he's got to know what the time to slow down when he gets to that spot so that Jared
07:49golf can snap it at the right moment and get inside that outside linebacker. I thought
07:53it was, it was drawn up. Perfect. It was called perfect. It was executed perfectly, but the
08:00block of the day was, was actually Sam LaPorta on that, on that play. It's a huge play in
08:06the game, right? I mean, it, it, it cements the game. Yeah. And listen, you guys know
08:12I I'll call it Dan Campbell decision aggressive when it warrants it. I don't think any of
08:16those were reckless decisions that he made yesterday. I didn't think they were reckless.
08:21You may have thought they were reckless out there in listener land. I don't think they
08:23were reckless. They were all fourth and one fourth and inches fourth and two. We're talking
08:29the stakes, it's touchdowns, it's game ending. It's, it's going for it. And the backdrop
08:35of it all is you don't have your defense. You are on fumes on defense. You don't want
08:41to give them a chance to beat you with your defense on the field. Now, if it's fourth
08:44and seven reckless, right? If you've got an elite defense and it's fourth and 10 and you're
08:49just, you know, I'm doing it to do it because reasons that's reckless. I don't think the
08:53decisions he made yesterday were reckless.
