00:00And that guy's literally like that.
00:02It will guide to the centre.
00:05You call that a pilot hole?
00:07It is.
00:08A pilot hole will do the centre,
00:10and that will then make a bigger hole
00:12as well as the middle one.
00:16Strong.
00:17Are you getting it?
00:18Might improve.
00:21Excellent, well done.
00:23So they do have to learn those handskills.
00:26That's a really important part of what you do,
00:28as well as some of the fancy stuff as well.
00:30Yeah, quite like that.
00:36We're in Peterborough because we know that
00:39Peterborough is a kind of hot spot for youth unemployment.
00:43There's over 1,350 young people claiming Universal Credit.
00:49Most of those will be unemployed,
00:52and we really want to make sure that we tackle that,
00:55that we give those young people the skills they need
00:57to get the well-paid jobs of the future.
01:00The college is working really, really hard here,
01:03as is the local MP and the mayor.
01:06We want to make sure there's more power and control
01:09devolved down to the local area
01:11because we think local people know best
01:14what people in Peterborough need,
01:15and this government wants to back their efforts.
01:17We're launching a new youth guarantee
01:20to make sure every young person is earning or learning,
01:24and I've come to Peterborough, to the college here,
01:26to see the fantastic work that's being done on apprenticeships,
01:30giving young people a real start in life
01:33with proper skills and proper job prospects for the future.
01:37We want to see much more of this across the country
01:40because right now, one in eight of all young people
01:44are not in education, employment or training,
01:47one million in total, and that is not good.
01:50It's not good for them.
01:51It's not good for businesses,
01:52and it's not good for the country,
01:54and it's got to change.
01:56Yeah.
01:57Well, it will mean that local people
02:00have more power, responsibility and funding
02:03to deliver a youth guarantee,
02:06a guarantee that every young person
02:08has a chance for training, education or work.
02:11It will build on the brilliant work
02:13the college is doing in apprenticeships.
02:15It will make sure that all the support is joined up,
02:19that it starts earlier on
02:20to make sure young people don't drop out of school
02:22without the basic qualifications they need,
02:24and it's part of this big plan we have
02:26to get Britain working again.
