Right Reverend Debbie Sellin talks about her appointment as Bishop of Peterborough
Transcript
00:00 Yes, so Peterborough excites me for a number of reasons. It's a very diverse and rich area.
00:07 The Diocese covers three different counties and there's rural, there's urban, there's beauty spots.
00:14 And where I currently am, there is that sense of diversity as well, so I love that sense of difference.
00:21 Every day will be different and every context will be different, which really excites me.
00:26 I'm also really excited about the focus in Peterborough on youth and children and having been a families worker myself,
00:32 I'm really excited. As a Church of England, we long to see more and more children coming to know Jesus
00:38 and so Peterborough has been focusing on that for some time, which excites me.
00:42 Is that one of the reasons why you've come here for the experience, to the school?
00:45 Yes, it is. It shows that children are close to my heart and to be able to come here and do it,
00:50 plus the fact that the children here were so involved in advance of the process of putting together
00:56 what they thought a bishop should look like, which is really good.
