00:00The House leadership once again defended the Ayuda para sa Kapos Ang Kita program or ACAP.
00:06Meanwhile, the lawmakers emphasized they will do everything to bring back ACAP's budget
00:11in the 2025 General Appropriations Bill despite several senators' opposition.
00:17Mela Lesmora tells us more.
00:21The House leadership has firmly stated they will fight to reinstate the more than 39 billion pesos allocation
00:27for the Ayuda para sa Kapos Ang Kita program or ACAP in the 2025 General Appropriations Bill.
00:33This funding was removed by the Senate panel in their version of the proposed budget,
00:37a move that House lawmakers did not approve.
00:40According to House Speaker Martin Romualdez, it would be better if the senators listen to the voice of the people
00:45regarding this matter to understand how important the ACAP program is.
00:49It is a form of special assistance intended for low-income individuals and minimum-wage earners.
00:57The House Committee on Appropriations Chairperson Erizaldi Co. also seconded this move.
01:22He said in the upcoming Bicameral Conference Committee meeting on the 2025 budget proposal,
01:28Speaker Romualdez has directed him to ensure the reallocation of funds for the ACAP.
01:33According to Co., they will not let go of what he described as the government's most vital socialized program.
01:38Other lawmakers also shared the same sentiment.
01:41I guess if we will criticize, criticize in the sense that we should improve the program,
01:48not to totally abolish the program.
01:50I think it's been a smashing success so far.
01:53The ACAP has helped a lot and if we will abolish it or if we will remove it outright,
01:59I think it will be a big blow to the social amelioration program of the national government.
02:03Mela Lesmora from the National TV Network for a new and better Philippines.
