00:21Yes, good evening Joshua despite some issues and drama the house of representatives has successfully approved on third and final reading the most important piece of legislation and that's the 2025 general appropriations bill on third and final reading.
00:41It was around 10 o'clock this morning when the house plenary session commenced.
00:45Since it was the last session day before recess, the lawmakers immediately resumed deliberations on the proposed 6.352 trillion pesos national budget for next year.
00:56First on the agenda was the budget proposal of the Congress of the Philippines which was quickly approved in a matter of minutes.
01:03Yesterday, President Ferdinand R. Marquez, Jr. certified the 2025 general appropriations bill as urgent.
01:10In the letter sent by the president to house speaker Martin Romualdez, it was stated how critically important it is to expedite the passage of the proposal to ensure the government operations are not delayed and that funding for government programs and initiatives proceeds uninterrupted.
01:26This certification enabled the house of representatives to approve the 2025 gab on both second and final reading today.
01:34With the votes of 285 in the affirmative, 3 in the negative and 0 abstention, this finally happened despite some drama and issues.
01:43The lower house has approved the most important piece of legislation past 8 in the evening earlier.
01:49Under the approved budget, the house slashed the appropriations of the office of the vice president to 733 million pesos from 2 billion pesos.
