00:00The resumption of budget deliberations in the Senate today, the proposed allocations of the Office of the President,
00:06the Presidential Communications Office came under scrutiny, but cleared proceedings in no time.
00:11Daniel Manalastas tells us more in this report.
00:16As the Senate continued its budget deliberations, the proposed budgets of the Office of the President,
00:22the Office of the Vice President, and the Presidential Communications Office
00:27were among the ones that cleared today's Senate deliberations.
00:31Senators, meanwhile, did not raise a question on the OP's budget.
00:35Upon consultation with the Chairperson of the Committee on Finance, as well as our Minority Leader, Senator Coco Pimentel,
00:45I move that we consider and adopt, for consideration of the Senate and approval,
00:56the budget of the Office of the President, the President's offices, and the Presidential Management Staff.
01:03During the budget deliberations on the PCO's proposed budget,
01:07Senate Minority Leader Coco Pimentel raised a question regarding the freedom of information.
01:13Are the people using this mechanism?
01:18How many requests for FOI have been made and were granted by the office?
01:26Through the FOI program, Mr. President, the citizens are afforded the right to access government-held information,
01:32documents, data, and statistics.
01:34There have been 239,741 EFOI requests lodged,
01:40and there have been 151,991 standard FOI filed.
01:46There are different types of FOI requests, statistics, data sets, research, legal documents, personal information, etc.
01:55And the top requested agencies under the EFOI portal, Department of Health, with 22,692 requests,
02:05PSA, Statistics Authority, National Telecommunications, BIR, DepEd.
02:11Meanwhile, Senators also tackled the budget of the Department of Migrant Workers,
02:16wherein they inquired about fellow OFWs with criminal cases abroad, some of whom are in that row.
