00:00Hanging out with Nate Smith at the CMA Awards. Nominated for Best New Artist, but this is my first time hanging out with you, so you don't feel like a new artist. So tell me, how does that feel for you?
00:08Man, I always want to stay a new artist. I always want to stay a new artist. You never arrive, and I don't ever want to have that mentality that, like, oh my gosh, I've made it or anything like that.
00:15Like, it's always got to be new, you know? And I'm just so grateful to be here presenting and up for New Artist of the Year. It's crazy.
00:21Yeah, no, it is crazy, man. And you also just put some new music out.
00:24So, some new album out. California Gold, my second album is out right now, and I'm just excited. We've got a song at radio right now, Fix We Didn't Break, and it's just been amazing, man. What a whirlwind.
00:33And why California Gold?
00:35So I'm from California, and one of my friends, I was talking to her, and I was like, how's it going out there? She's like, we're finally getting some rain. Rain is California Gold.
00:41And I'm like, that sounds like the title of the album. And then I think of it as, like, all the experiences I had growing up, you know? Like, the gold of California to me is that stuff, you know?
00:51Alright, and then, I mean, that's kind of interesting being a person in country from California.
00:54Very different, yeah.
00:55So how does it even feel like now at the political climate? I feel like being in Nashville and everything after the election, does it feel different out here to you?
01:01I don't know. I mean, I just think we just need to be good people to each other, you know? And just love your neighbor. Like, that's all we've got to do in life. Just love your neighbor.
01:08Amen. And then Christmas is around the corner as well. So tell me, what's the Christmas song that gets you in the spirit?
01:13Man, anything off that Frank Sinatra album, you know what I'm saying?
01:15You know what, that's been a popular answer tonight.
