Old Dominion caught up with Billboard's Tetris Kelly at the CMA Awards 2024.

00:00I'm hanging out with Old Dominion now guys you got the opportunity to break a

00:04record tonight seven times

00:06you could take home Vocal Group of the Year. How does that feel right now?

00:10It's absolutely amazing I mean like you said it we're breaking a record we came

00:13into the category

00:14just excited to win once and now we have the potential to

00:18to be the most winningest. The most winningest

00:22of all time. But I gotta say

00:27I don't know if you guys remember this. Garth Brooks famously took himself out of a

00:30category when he won too many times. He said you know what

00:33I'm gonna give it to somebody else. So would you guys consider like relinquishing

00:37the reign?

00:37Not this year. Not this year. Give it a couple more times.

00:41I need to talk to my therapist. That's amazing. I love that you guys are gonna be performing at the

00:48end of a Cincinnati Reds game. I don't think I've ever

00:50seen that happen like a concert after a game for sports fans. So how exciting is

00:54that and how did that come about?

00:55We've gotten to do that a couple of times actually. I think we did it for a Phillies game one time and

00:59now we'll do it with the Cincinnati Reds. It turns out to be a really fun thing

01:02because everybody just hangs out

01:04and it turns into a big party afterwards. It's a really fun experience.

01:07I gotta be honest. I just found out we're doing that right there.

01:10He's like we're doing what? We're doing that. That's awesome. I was thinking to myself

01:14thank God he knows about that because I have no idea what the heck.

01:18I did a little bit of research.

01:21He knows about it. Thank God I know. That's great. That's great.

01:25Let's talk about the new project as well. It's oldies but some goodies.

01:29Tell me why that was the inspiration behind the new project. We spent a long time on

01:33the road last year

01:34really learning who our fans were. They would show up with signs.

01:38Just so many different songs on them that weren't the typical radio

01:41singles. So of course we put the radio singles on there but we just thought it

01:44would be a cool way to

01:45honor them and honor our relationship to make this big mixtape

01:49of all the songs that they love and that we love that we felt like maybe

01:53need another shot. Put them all together. It's been really fun.

01:56I gotta ask you now. What's the song that you feel like you wanted to give

01:59another shot that you're like

02:00thank God people are hearing this again. For me there's a song

02:03that we play at the end of every show called My Heart is a Bar which is

02:06one of my favorites. I'm proud that we wrote that one and I'm proud that it's

02:10stuck in the show and people really love that.

02:13I love that one. Lastly, Christmas season is right around the corner.

02:16Tell me a song that gets you in the spirit.

02:18What are you playing while you're decorating the tree? It's the Christmas music.

02:21You're the guy. I will start the Christmas music as soon as possible and
