00:04Jubilee has always been a happy dog.

00:10She really lives up to her name of a celebration.
00:15And that light started to dim a little bit.
00:18She wasn't as excited.
00:20One day we woke up and the first thing we saw was she had discharge around her eyes
00:26and it was like she didn't want to look at the light.
00:29So we took her to the vet and the vet prescribed her some medicine to make her feel better.
00:35Unfortunately, her symptoms started coming back and we could tell that she just was not happy.
00:45There was a lot of unknown answers and it was really scary because we didn't know how to help her best.

00:53Eventually we were able to get a diagnosis.
00:56It's a special autoimmune disease, which means the body attacks itself.
01:02We knew eventually she would go blind
01:05and we were told she was going to eventually have to have her eyes removed
01:09because the disease would cause her so much pain.
01:13But after her spirits began to change,
01:18her smile returned and her wiggly demeanor came back.
01:23She was so excited to be with us.
01:29She started developing the other side of the disease as well, where her fur would turn white.
01:35Because Jubilee has gone blind, I've had to learn to read her differently.
01:40The eyes say a lot, they express a lot.
01:42And when you take the eyes away, you have to relearn how to communicate.

01:50Scent has become her primary way of navigating the world.
01:54And I think she's really become attached to flowers because they smell so pretty.

02:22And it's been so amazing just to develop such a deep bond with such a unique dog.
