00:00A new neighbourhood in Stoke, a footballer opening a restaurant in Nottingham and a National
00:05Dog Festival. They are featured in today's Business Briefing.
00:15Hello, my name is Jennifer O'Keefe. And I'm Robin Hewson.
00:18So, Robin, what stories have you come across today?
00:20Well, our first one today is from the Midlands. So, it's about a new development by Capital
00:25& Centric. So, people in Manchester or the North West will be familiar with them for
00:29their kind of unique projects. So, they convert old mills into flats and they're doing the
00:35Hollywood of the North over in Liverpool as well. But this is one of their Midlands developments
00:40in Stoke. So, it's called Goods Yard. And they're creating this new community that's
00:43going to have residential units, commercial space and new green space as well. So, they've
00:49been on the lookout for some commercial operators to go into 30,000 square foot of commercial
00:55space. So, they're looking for creative businesses, restaurants, cafes, things like that to really
01:00liven up the area. And then, as I said, there's also going to be kind of a residential element.
01:04So, people will be living there and yes, new green space. So, it should be a really exciting
01:09one. And it's opening in spring 2025. So, nearly time to go and have a look.
01:14Excellent. Sounds good. Well, some deals news then from me. So, Robin, are you a cat or
01:19a dog person?
01:20Got to be a dog lover, yeah.
01:21Well, then you will love this news. So, an acquisition was made for a festival for dog
01:26lovers known as Dogfest. So, Dogfest is regarded as the UK's biggest outdoor festival for dogs
01:33and its fans. And it has events in various spots around the country. So, at the festival,
01:39attendees can usually find workshops, expert talks, dog walks, shows, competitions and
01:45so on. And it has now been acquired by Stable Events Limited, who are the names behind big
01:51events like the Game Fair and the Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials. And so,
01:57for 10 years, Dogfest has grown from a one weekend event into a seven day event across
02:03the country. And it's hosted in places like Surrey, Warwickshire, Lincolnshire, Cheshire,
02:09Bristol and several others. So, yeah. So, great news for Dogfest.
02:13Oh, really exciting. Well, hopefully it's coming to Manchester next.
02:16Hopefully.
02:17So, back to the Midlands for another story from there. So, a Nottinghamshire restaurant
02:22is being opened by a Premier League footballer.
02:24Brilliant.
02:25So, 360 Indian Restaurant Bar and Grill is set to open in Calverton in Nottinghamshire
02:30just in time for Christmas. So, the venture is a collaboration between Bobby Singh, who
02:35owns an iconic Nottingham restaurant 4,550 miles from Delhi, or 4550 as the locals call
02:42it. And he's going to enter this venture with the Guman family who own the Octavian
02:47group of companies. So, 360 isn't your kind of typical Indian restaurant. It's also got
02:52the street food element to it as well. So, it should be really exciting. And it's set
02:56to be officially opened by a former Premier League and England player. Any guesses who
03:01that might be?
03:02Oh, well, because we're Manchester based, I'm going to guess Jack Wheelish.
03:07Not quite. So, it's actually Emile Heskey who's going to open it.
03:11Oh, okay.
03:12So, he'll be there on Thursday the 12th of December to do that. So, yeah, really exciting
03:15time for Calverton.
03:16Oh, brilliant. That sounds excellent.
03:18Well, lastly, over in Northern Ireland, plans for a major hotel development close to Belfast
03:23International Airport have been granted approval. So, the new Premier Inn hotel will have 81
03:29rooms and will be developed by JH Turkington & Sons with an investment of £5.5 million.
03:37Antrim and Newtown Abbey Borough Council's Planning Committee gave the scheme the green
03:41light. And the construction phase is expected to support 30 jobs across a 12-month period.
03:47Oh, really exciting then.
03:48Yeah, brilliant news.
03:49So, that's all we've got time for today. But if you want to hear any more about these stories,
03:53if you want to attend Dogfest or check in at the Belfast hotel, then you can head to
03:58insidermedia.com to find out more. And we'll be back tomorrow for more of the top business
04:02news from across the UK.
