00:07as a £175,000 makeover. The Sofa and Sofa Main Shower have been closed since the end
00:15of 2023, but it was reopened on August 15th by the acclaimed chef Tom Lawson, formerly
00:22of the Midfield in the recommended Lafayette Expansion of the Green. The sofa has 21 bedrooms
00:29as well as a bar and 50-seat restaurant which are open to members of the public. The restaurant
00:35serves modern British sharing plates, made using locally sourced seasonal ingredients.
00:40Prices range in from £3 to £4 for smaller dishes, up to around £30 for more substantial
00:46plates. Tom said the most popular item on the menu so far has been the Salter Fried
00:52Chicken with BBQ sauce, priced £9, which guests and visitors can order in the restaurant
00:58or at the bar to enjoy with a beer or glass of wine. He's also had little plans to start
01:03serving Sunday lunches soon at the restaurant, where Kyle Leakes Booner, who worked with
01:07Tom at the Rafters at Riverside House Hotel, is a head chef. Tom told the Star,
01:13We've been super busy so far, which is good. We're seeing lots of a peak customer already
01:18and it's nice to have that local support. People are happy to have it back in the community
01:23after it was closed for so long. Tom added that 19 out of the 21 rooms had now been refurbished,
01:30with the rest set to be ready to occupy by the end of September, well ahead of schedule.
