00:00All right. So last night, my expectations were very low. Those were met between the Texans and Cowboys. How embarrassing is this season, Jacob, for Dallas? I know we should always focus on the winner here. So congrats to Houston. Congrats to Joe Mixon. The defense played well. They were just, you know, throwing Cooper Rush on the ground at the end of that game. But I don't think that we can help looking at Dallas and saying, and really asking ourselves this question.
00:30Here's my question. Is Dallas the worst team in the NFL right now? I think it is a fair question to ask, Jacob. And we'll get to Houston here in a minute. But Dallas could, for me, could easily end up with the number one or number two overall pick in the draft.
00:47I think it's a fair question to ask. I certainly think that there's a case you can make for it. I think if you look at their talent and the talent they have on this roster, you would say, no, this team isn't the worst team in the NFL. They still have C.D. Lamb. They still have some offensive linemen that carry respect with their name, like Zach Martin.
01:04And then you look at their defense, you say, oh, Micah Parsons, he's missed time. He's back now. They should be a little bit better. But things just haven't been coming together for them at all. They're really missing Dan Quinn on the defensive side of the ball. That unit has taken a massive step back. And frankly, this is a mess of Jerry Jones's making. He didn't want to move on from Mike McCarthy last year.
01:26And yet he decided we're going to mostly run it back with the same roster and just let a handful of guys go. Our marquee offseason signings are going to be Eric Hendricks and Ezekiel Elliott. And then we're going to say we couldn't afford anyone who wanted to come here. Like, Derrick Henry has said that he wanted to go to the Cowboys before the Ravens came calling. So if they had Derrick Henry, this team would look a lot different.
01:49And maybe Henry would have a little bit worse of a year playing for an offense that kind of hasn't come together yet. But I think as long as the Cowboys are without Jack Prescott, this offense isn't going to do much and their defense isn't the same unit it once was. So I think there's a fair case to be made. They're probably a bottom five team in the NFL right now. It will be interesting to see where their draft position ends up.
02:09Yeah, I think they're on the verge of that. I mean, Jacksonville seems to have lockdown maybe on number one, but we'll see. All right. So Houston seems to me, Jacob, to be the team that a lot of people had high expectations for. And I think some of those will be met. I think they're going to make the playoffs. But every time I watch them, Jacob, I feel like I'm wanting a little bit more. So I'm just not sure if they're poised to make a deep run, but I think they're going to get in.
02:33I agree with you on that. I think they're going to get in. I think they're the best team in their division. The Colts could maybe challenge them a little bit down the stretch, but Anthony Richardson's a little too inconsistent for me there. But I also agree with you that I want more from this team. I think we've seen it. Their second half touchdown drought lasted almost five games. I mean, really, without that late Joe Mixon couple of touchdowns there that he had, it would have been another bad second half for Bobby Slowick's offense.
03:01So I think there's some concerns there. Maybe CJ Stroud's hitting that little sophomore slump where teams have figured out what type of pressure bothers him the most. So I think on offense, you kind of have issues there. And then defensively, I know they have very good pass rushers.
03:17Will Anderson missed last night's game, yet they still got a ton of pressure on Cooper Rush, but they just haven't been consistent defending against the past. That's something that I've noticed a lot when they play. They have a tendency to give up these really big explosive pass plays at times when you're not expecting it.
03:33We saw that against the Patriots and Drake Mays first start. Granted, they were winning big throughout most of that game, but they let him complete some deep passes. And then yesterday night, we saw Kavante Turpin just get loose on them and go 64 yards for a touchdown.
03:47So a team with that type of defensive tendency to give up the big play and a team that has trouble scoring in the second half, that doesn't mix well for me. I think they're going to probably fall short of expectations come playoff time, but they're certainly a talented squad. I think they're just enduring some natural growing pain.
